chapter four ~ the one with the sleepover
Heather's POV

Living in New York was better than I had ever expected and even though I hadn't been keen on the idea of moving here at first, now I was more than happy that Carl had convinced me to come. Sure, I still didn't have a job but there were other things to focus on, other positives to look at. For example, I had rekindled my relationship with my brother and things were better than they had ever been. I always thought that we were close when we were kids but the truth was, that we weren't, we hardly ever saw each other because we were both in boarding school and only spent time with each other in the holiday seasons. Which weren't always the happiest of experiences because of our parents' messy divorce. Now, we were enjoying each other's company and it felt like we were becoming more sibling-like every day.

Another positive thing that had happened to me when moving to New York, was the friends that I had made and I was happy that Chandler had accepted me otherwise I wouldn't have been able to meet all of his friends. The girls were the most welcoming and had invited me over to several events at their apartment, including a sleepover tonight which I was looking forward to. The other boys were going to a hockey game to try and cheer Ross up, because it was the anniversary of when he and Carol first had sex. Chandler had offered to try and get a ticket for Carl but when I had asked my boyfriend about it, he refused and told me that he needed to get an early night. Things between me and Carl weren't perfect, not like they used to be and it felt like we were drifting apart. Moving to the city made me hope that we could rekindle things and go back to the way that we were when we first met but that was seeming more unlikely as time went on. He was working so much that the only time I ever got to see him was when he was in bed and he was always asleep.

"Where's Rachel?" I asked as I stepped into the apartment, putting the wine that I had bought on the table and looking for the missing girl.

"Oh, she went out with some of her rich friends." Monica explained, rolling her eyes. "She should be back soon."

I nodded, looking over to the punch that they were making. "What is that?"

"Tiki Death Punch, it's my Grandmother's recipe." Phoebe answered as I leaned over and observed the bowl which made me wince because the smell was very strong.

Then the door opened and Rachel stepped into the apartment, laying her purse on the counter. "Hi, Rach, how was it with your friends?" Both Monica and Phoebe screamed as high pitched as possible, joking with the girl who didn't seem to find it funny. "Okay, how would you like some Tiki Death Punch?"

"What's that?" She asked the same question as I did, only she seemed more upset about the whole situation.

"Well, it's rum and-"

"Okay." Rachel doesn't let her finish as she takes the bowl and sticks a straw into it.

"We thought because the boys were out tonight, we'd have kind of a slumber party thing. We got some trashy magazine, we got cookie dough, we got Twister..."
