You were sleeping peacefully in bed until you suddenly felt something repeatedly hitting your forehead. You open your eyes slightly, seeing that Archimedes was standing on your pillow, still hitting you with his beak.

"Archimedes, stop that!" You groaned rolling on your stomach hoping it would make him stop. "Go, bother Daddy."

Archimedes then pulled your hair a bit, waking you up completely.

"Ahhh! Archimedes!!!" You yelled. "Ludwig, wake up, Archimedes-"

You stopped mid-sentence when you realize Ludwig wasn't in bed with you. Archimedes started to fly towards the slightly opened door and hit it with his beak. You soon realized Archimedes was trying to get you to follow him. You suddenly grew worried, was Archimedes doing this because something happened to Ludwig? You quickly got up and open the door all the way. Archimedes left the room and you followed him. The dove leads you to the Medbay, where you could hear faint sounds that sounded like crying. You opened the door and saw Ludwig crying by his desk.

"Ludwig?" You called out to him.

He quickly turned to you, tears running down his face. His eyes were red as if he's been crying for hours. You walked over to Ludwig, ready to ask him what was wrong, but then you saw it. On the desk was a dove that was dead. You looked back, he looked so broken.

"What happened?" You asked.

"I... I have no idea..." Ludwig cried. "I just came in here to feed zhem and she was lying here dead."

Ludwig cried hard as you pulled him into a hug. It broke your heart to see Ludwig like this. You knew Ludwig loved his doves more than anything in the world.

"What was her name?" You asked.

Though you took care of Ludwig's doves it was hard to tell them apart. You only were able to tell which one was Archimedes because he was always covered in blood.

"Her name was Persephone. She was one of the older doves, she was Archimedes' mother." Ludwig whispered. "I should have seen somezhing vas wrong vith her, I could have-"

"Ludwig don't do that! Don't blame yourself!" You told him. "This was not your fault. She was an old bird, she might have just died from old age."

"Jou're right..." Ludwig whispered wiping his tears away. "I should find somezhing to bury her in, I know I can bring her back but it doesn't feel right. She lived her life, I need to let her rest now."

Ludwig had got up and you had helped him look for something small to put Persephone in. You had found a small box that would fit the dove. After wrapping the dove in a white cloth and placing her in the box, Ludwig and you took the box outside. You dug a small hole, and once it was done you place the box down.

"Goodbye, my beautiful Taube," Ludwig whispered before covering the box in the dirt.

Ludwig kneeled on the ground for a while, his hand holding on to your hand tight, never letting go like he was afraid you would disappear. When he finally got up, he hugged you. You hug him back, running one of your hands through his hair in a way to comfort him.

"Ich Liebe Dich, (Y/N)" Ludwig spoke to you in German, though you knew what his words meant.

"I love you too, Ludwig." You whispered.

You two stayed there for a while before you went back inside. Ludwig and you laid back in bed, Archimedes resting on Ludwig's chest. It didn't take long before Ludwig fell asleep, it wasn't surprising considering all the crying he had done. You moved closer to Ludwig, wrapping your arms around his body before closing your eyes and falling asleep as well.
