Thank you so much Ashlyn for staying later to organize the the new books. It really means a lot. I'm going to give you a huge bonus for this!"
Kathy exclaimed as I was putting on my jacket. She was always a little extreme with things, but I just smile and nod to it. "Oh you don't have to Kathy, I'm just trying to help out." Which wasn't a lie but it also gave me a good excuse to not go home right away. As I look at the clock on the wall, I see the time. 10:36 pm. Crap. I'm so dead when I get home. I promised my mom I wouldn't stay too late at work. Hopefully she'll be a little easy on me. I grabbed the rest of my belongs from my small locker and headed for the door.
"Ok Kathy, I really should be going. I'll see you on Saturday!" I said as I was walking towards the door. "Bye Ashlyn!" I hear her yell from the other side of the room. I give a little chuckle as I walk out the building. She really can make anyone smile, even in their darkest moment.

I didn't live far from the library, only about a few blocks. But it was a nice evening so I wasn't rushing home. With my earbuds in, I was in my own world. With thoughts in my head, I wasn't really aware of my surroundings. As I was passing an alleyway, A large crash came from beside me. A small squeak came from me as I saw a something moving in the shadows. Normally, I wouldn't be so brave, but for some reason I had some sort of confidence rush over me. "Hello? Is someone there?" I mentally hit myself as I asked such a cliche thing. I couldn't have said anything else? I didn't get a verbal response.

I only heard a shuffle come front he darkness. "Hey its ok. Believe me, I'm not going to hurt you." I tried to sound as sweet and welcoming as possible, even though I'm not the best with new people. "I know you won't, but I don't want you seeing me." A voice came from the darkness. Finally, a verbal response. But not a response I was expecting. but what kind of response would I be expecting? them to just come out immediately and we become best friends? Although a new friend would be nice to have. I didn't have many since I was always focused on school and work. But Maybe I shouldn't think too fast about this.

"Why don't you want me seeing you?" I asked, trying to sound as calm as possible, even though I was getting just a little bit nervous. "I don't want you to be scared of me" the voice replied. I walked a little forward only to notice red liquid on the ground in front of me. "Oh my, are you hurt?" I was now more concerned for this person. He didn't reply, but he didn't need to. I knew he was hurt. "Let me call for some help. you might need medical attention and we don't want it getting infected". I reached for my phone only to stop when the voice spoke up. "NO! Please don't, that's not necessary. No need to call anyone" he said, frantically.

I don't know what caused me say what I said but I did. "Listen. Either you step into the light so I can help you or I call for help." Never had I thought I'd ever say that, especially to a stranger. A sigh came from the darkness and I heard a feet shuffling. I saw a tall, semi buffed figure came forward, but only to the birder of the light coming from a headlight above us. "Please don't scream or run." The voice said. I was now a mix of concern and fear for this. I wasn't going to leave this person. He needs my help. but he's making this whole thing so difficult and a little off. why couldn't I see him? "I promise." And in mean't it too. I was always someone who tried to keep their promises with others.

A moment of silenced rushed over us for what felt like forever. He was slowly moving towards the light. The more he moved into the light, the more I saw of... Him. Before long, a 6 foot, (apparently) talking turtle stood in front of me. He had track pants that were being held up with suspenders. Which was a hard look to pull off, yet it suited him very well. A lot of gadgets were all over his shell. But what stood out to me was the purple mask on his face with brown glasses. I stood in awe. Staring at the creature in front of me. He awkwardly stood there, moving side to side.

I saw him gripping the side of his arm, which was covered in blood. This finally forced me back to reality. I shock my head and got myself back to focus. Well, slightly focused. How can one focus while a mutant turtle stood in front of them. "Um, h-how did y-you get hurt exactly?" I asked trying to get things moving and to break this awkward silence. I could see he was a little surprised by my actions but he was still a little tense. Can't blame him though. I may be the only person who's ever seen him. "I was fighting against a few Foot Clan members and I got sliced by one of the blades. I escaped but fell down here and that's when i guess you heard me crash down. I would've tried to flee, but I couldn't with my arm." He explained. I had so many questions. But right now, I need to take a look at his arm before it gets infected.
