How long does it take for two souls to get extinguished?

Years?

.

Months?

.

Days?

.

Minutes?

.

Seconds?

Well, it depends how long it takes for something to go horribly wrong.

"You sure this is the place?" A boy asked, shifting his eyes over to someone crouched next to him. The boy had dark brown hair as he gazed across to a seemingly abandoned house. He wore a padded black suit with multiple layers of protection surrounding his skin He had a visor that shielded his eyes.

"Of course I'm sure Leo." The person said, "I've scoped out this place for months to make sure. Those monsters always come here. Same day, same time. We blow this thing sky high and we get a bunch of those fuckers."

"You positive Nova? We can just check back next month-" The boy was immediately cut off by a scoff from Nova. They tussled with their blonde and brown colored hair before reaching down and patting down the pockets to their outfit.

They quickly fished out a remote and twirled it with a small smirk. "I've already rigged the place with explosives. As soon as they go in the place is getting blow sky high. Plus we've got Pyro, Waddup, and Coyote in position. You've got to learn that the sooner you pull the trigger the sooner everything is over. We have no reason to be sympathetic to those freaks."

Nova paused for a moment giving a small hum as they thought. "You know what?" Leo turned his attention to them raising an eyebrow. "You get to press the button this time." With a toss, the remote was up in the air leaving the boy to scramble for it. He hastily caught it fumbling around with the object for a second.

The plastic object stared up at him. The red button in the center of it was gleaming, ready to be pressed at a moments notice. Ready to be pressed. Ready to take the lives of those who dare to enter the house.

That.

Damn.

Red.

Button.

It glared up at Leo, daring him to just press the button. It was a challenge- a test if you could call it that. The answer should've been simple. He hated that it wasn't.

Nova ignored the blatant internal battle that Leo was having in favor of turning on her communicator. Static crackled through as Nova flipped through the different channels. Clearing their throat they started to speak. "Pyro we are in place. Waiting for targets to arrive on sight. Over."

"Perfect." A rough voice echoed into the wood around them. "We've scouted out the area. All possible escape routes are cut off. We get them here and now. The bombs are all set up right? Over." A hum from Nova answered the boy's question. "Do we know the type of the monsters? Over."
