Avacato was tired
But he was happy tired

There had been another meeting in the principals office to discuss what had gone down between Fox and little Cato.
Gary had called Avacato about it the night before, they'd basically stayed up all night chatting.
Little Cato was less than pleased about this and had barely spoken a word all morning. In the car Avacato had interrogated him about what had actually happened.

"Dad! For the last time! I've already told you!"

...

The ladies at the office made them wait about half an hour before they could come in. Little Cato made a joke about how they were still consoling Fox, Avacato did not laugh.

When they entered the room the atmosphere shifted from comfortable, quiet office to uncomfortable, awkward principals office.

Gary offered Avacato a smile, which was gladly returned.

"Take a seat guys!"

Fox was sitting in the same place as before, but now, beside him sat a pink haired girl. Her eyes were on her lap.

Little Cato had seemed to notice the girl as well, because he had seemed to choose to sit on the side furthest from her.
"So I've been offered a second side on the story" Gary told them all.
Fox shifted uncomfortably, little Cato swallowed and the girl with pink hair had begun tapping her foot on the ground anxiously

"Hm?" Avacato urged, getting more invested as he saw how nervous his son was

"So, apparently-"

Fox raised his hand

"Yes Fox?"

"I'd like to tell it sir"

"Alright then"

Fox started "I'd walked over to little Cato's locker to talk to him about something-"

Little Cato glared at Fox "you mean, insult my hair for the fifty'th time that day?!"
Fox glared right back, but decided to ignore him.

"Anyway, out of nowhere, little Cato makes a comment about my sister"

"I DID NOT!!"

"Little Cato!" Gary reprimanded, though he was eyeing both boys.

Avacato was about to ask who fox's sister was when he remembered the pink haired girl sitting there. She was so quiet he kept forgetting she was even there.

"What comment did he make?" Avacato inquired.

"Well I said 'your hair looks especially messy today-"

Little Cato bristled. "Nuh uh! You said dumb!"

Fox's stifled. "Well can you blame me!!"

Avacato was getting really sick of this. "Quiet boys!!"

They both apologised meekly

Fox continued "and little Cato replied 'well your sister likes this hair!'"

Little Cato was burying his beet red face in his hands.
Fox was glaring hard at little Cato
And ash had suddenly found her shoes super interesting

Avacato was weirded out, this was stupid

"And what happened after that?"
Gary asked, clearly uncomfortable

"Things got... Physical"

Gary nodded and lost himself in thought.

Avacato had to fight off a grin, this was nothing!
He had thought that this would be serious, that his son would actually be in trouble.

He chuckled, audibly

Fox, Gary and Ash all turned to face him (Little Cato did not move his hands out of his hands)

This only made Avacato laugh harder

"Dad!" Little Cato hissed, his face even redder (if possible)

"I'm sorry!" Avacato guffawed "I'm sorry! This is just Soo dumb"

Gary was grinning a little bit but tried to contain it
"So" he started " could you please explain to me why you said that? Little Cato?"

Little Cato shrugged sheepishly "to piss Fox off?" He offered weakly

Fox scoffed "right! Because you don't have some crush on my sister!? Riiight"

Little Cato elbowed him

Avacato was near tears

"Do you?" The pink haired girl inquired, finally looking up
Little Cato shrugged but he looked really nervous

"Kinda seems like he does-" Gary muttered or at least tried to mutter because it was actually quite loud

Gary flushed and apologised immediately

"Okay" he said "here's what we're going to do! Fox and little Cato are going to both apologize and then little Cato will apologize to Ash for getting her in this mess"

"I don't mind" the pink haired girl- Ash piped up "it was kind of cute"

Little Cato was once again beet red and was doing everything in his power not to smirk right into fox's face

"Okay" Avacato announced to the room "I'm gonna have a word with the vice principal while you guys sort this all out, alright?"

Everybody nodded

Avacato and Gary silently gravitated towards each other.
"Sooo..." Gary started, his eyes twinkling

Avacato chuckled into his hand, "kids are" he paused "they.... Overreact quite a bit"

Gary grinned
* * * *

Fox and Little Cato stood facing each other. Neither had apologised, Gary and Avacato had gone to get some coffee from the teachers lounge. Asking them to have apologised by the time they return

Ash was standing awkwardly to the side, growing more and more irritated as the time went by

"Fox" she bristled "just say something!"

Fox shook his head, "no way!"
Little Cato grinned up at him "pussy" he hissed playfully

Ash glared at Little Cato "stop being rude you guys!"

They both looked away, semi-ashamed, mostly scared of Ash

"I'm sorry" Fox frowned

"I'm sorry too"

Ash grinned at them, they both grinned back

"I'm sorry Ash" little Cato started,
Ash just smiled shyly

"I do like your hair" she said softly "so you weren't really lying"
Little Cato opened his mouth to speak and started choking on the air

Fox guffawed, watching Little Cato sputter and shake
Ash gasped and worriedly grabbed little Cato's arm
"Little Cato!" She quietly shrieked
"Are you okay? what's wrong?!"

He put a hand up and slowly stopped coughing
"I-" be rasped "I like your hair too"

Ash's face went red and she let go of his arm

Fox was on the ground, still laughing
And when the adults walked back in they were extremely confused on why Fox was lying on the ground, chuckling
Little Cato was facing the wall, his face red
And Ash sitting down calmly, absentmindedly stroking her hair
