600 and 17 feathers. Exactly. That was how much gold feathers Jane had had when she left the military. Then she met Sherlock. She saved more people. And now she had 1000, 200 and 45. Her wingspan was huge.
Over 9000 purple-black feathers. That's how much Sherlock had. Or, to be more precise, 10000, 6000, 400, 22. Her wingspan could hide the entre Scotland Yard. That's how long she had been working for them, saving people.
2 wings, 9 deep purple feathers each. That was how much Hyalla Holmes-Watson had. It was quite impressive, for someone who was only 7.
Hyalla was frustrated. It would be so easy to just use her wings to fly, to capture the criminal. But no, Lestrade was with them, and other than her mama (Jane), he didn't know about their wings. Her mama had worked for the F.E.A.T.H.E.R unit in the army, and as a result, one of her dog tags was in the shape of a feather with her unit name on it. People who had worked in the F.E.A.T.H.E.R unit, when showing their dog tags, could show them at any store, any sort of transportation, and get anything for free. People with full wings were also very rare and respected, which was why when her Mom (Sherlock) had brought her to the Scotland Yard for the first time, when she was only 4, they had to let her in.
Sherlock could sense her daughter's annoyance and frowned. The criminal they were catching was extremely fast and no matter how many shortcuts they all took they just couldn't nab him. "Lestrade, turn left," The DI looked at her but she was already turning right, with Hyalla and Jane right behind her. Sighing, he did she told.
The moment they turned the corner, Hyalla threw off her coat at one of the people in her mom's homeless network and spread her wings, taking flight.
A few minutes later, with another feather each for the family, the criminal was sitting in the back of a police car, glaring at everyone. Unlike many people, the Holmes-Watson's hated publicity (Unless it helped them) and flaunting their wings (Seeing as Hyalla wasn't even supposed to have them at her age), so the minute the car drove away, the 3 of them hailed a cab and drove away, their wings folded away under their coats.
The next day was school for Hyalla. Bor-ing. She woke up at 7:30 and yawned. Her room was neat, in an almost a military-like way. Her black bed was in left corner nearest to her parent's room, and her single window was covered with a purple curtain separated her bed from her desk, which had her purple custom made Belstaff coat hung on the back a her chair along with her backpack. Sheets of photo-copied information about some of the cases she had done in the past was scattered all over the place, and beside her bed was a shelf with more books then a 7-year-old should have. A normal one, any way.
"Hey, sleepyhead," Jane said as her daughter came down, large, innocent-looking grey eyes full of sleep, and her blonde hair was extremely ruffled, like she had just walked out of a tornado. "Hi mama," she replied as she plopped down on the sofa and reached for the remote. Jane shook her head and took it away. "No TV until you eat breakfast and are ready for school,"
