Chapter 28

"Well, I'm sorry. You haven't even realized that people don't like you, then? That was uncalled for. Please forgive me."

Are... Are you both seriously talking about this?? Did I hit my head a little too hard??

"Little ones~!"
She called to us.

"Y-Yes?"
Tanjiro spoke up.

"What you're protecting there is a demon! I don't want you to get hurt, so please move out of the way!"

"Y-You're mistaken! I mean... not really, B-But, she's our little sister!"
Tanjiro held Nezuko, sitting up now.

She put her hand over her mouth, sighing.
"Is that right? Poor thing. In that case..."

She smiled again, her eyes giving me chills.
"I shall use a gentle toxin to kill her so she won't suffer, alright?"

Tomioka-San held his hand out to protect us.
"Can you move? If not, then make yourself move. Even if you can't. Take your sister and run."

"Tomioka-San... Sorry for the trouble!"
I apologize, Tanjiro helping me up as we run with Nezuko in his arms.

"Thank you very much!"

We ran as fast as we could, and I grab Nezuko's box along the way, Tanjiro struggling as he had to both bring me along and carry Nezuko.

"I'm sorry I'm so slow!"

"It's okay!"

His face expressed nothing but pain, and even my own limbs felt weak, thin yet deep cuts etched into my skin from the webs. But we still kept running. Tomioka-San gave us this opportunity, and we have to take advantage of it!

Nezuko slowly woke up, and I began to worry. Now that we've been found out, are we going to be forced to quit?  Even if Nezuko is our sister, they wouldn't ever let us travel with a demon!

My legs hurt so bad I wanna scream! I'm in so much pain, but I can't stop running now!

Suddenly, a strong foot lands on both our backs, knocking us down, Nezuko falling from Tanjiro's grip.
"Gah!"

Oh no! Not good! Not good!
Suddenly, a young girl landed, her sword drawn, the kanji on the back of her uniform the same as ours!

Oh no! She's going for Nezuko!
Tanjiro quickly grabbed her cape, making her lose balance and fall down.

I quickly get up and grab Nezuko, running with her quickly.

"Run!"
Tanjiro yelled at us, and I nod.
"Run! Make a run for it! Don't get caught no matter what!"

Nezuko held my hand tightly, and we both run through the woods, trying to get as far away from the Demon Slayer that now chased after us.

Her sword nearly decapitated me, Nezuko shrinking in time. I pick her up and run.
She still followed, slashing in our general direction.

"Do you want both of us dead?! I'm still human, you know!"
We run as fast as we can, but she's so unbearably hard to lose.
