A crack of lighting and shriek of thunder pounded in his ears.
Izuku was paralyzed. He couldn't move, no matter how much he screamed at his body to do so. His breath caught in his lungs, making him stutter and choke as he tried to yell out. As he tried to tell his body to move. The roof sagged one final time before it gave out, falling in time with a final crack of lightning. A booming of thunder sounded in time with a petrified boy's scream, drowning it out.
The ceiling fell.
Izuku raised his arms to his head as the roof of the room fell, seemingly in slow motion. He couldn't activate his quirk in time. The sound of his voice echoed across the room, sounding out through the window, yet it seemed so quiet.
Directly onto his legs.
Izuku fell unconscious as the roof fell directly onto his legs, his arms still wrapped around his head. His phone clattered to the floor, the light going dull with a low battery warning. Blood seeped out from the covers.

Wind howled through the streets of Musufatsu as rain pounded onto the stable roofs of tall standing business towers and stable suburban homes. Trash and leaves whipped through the streets, tumbling and flying. Not a single person was outside, instead indoors with warm dinners and steaming drinks. Across the city, a black haired man stared out his window and looked for a single flash of green lightning.
Only a few blocks away, students gathered in the common room of their dorm building. They clicked a horror movie into the DVD player and gathered on the couch with steaming mugs of tea and hot chocolate. Girls shrieked and clung to their friends as fake horror and nightmares played onscreen.
A champagne blonde male with spiky hair and crimson red eyes stared at his phone, shaking it and urging it to pick up. His worry grew as the movie on the television played fake screams, and his mind began to replace the protagonist with his own best friend.
Katsuki Bakugou raced out of the dorms and into the howling storm, ignoring the questions of his classmates. He ran as fast as he could to a graveyard, knowing Izuku said he would be visiting that night. He only stopped when Kirishima caught up to him and tugged him back to the dorms, the red head speaking words of comfort and reason.
A deep tugging of dread filled Katsuki's stomach as he looked out into the stormy night, the voices of his classmates circulating in his head. Multiple people spoke of how it would be fun if Midoriya were there, his endless theorizing and muttering adding extra context to the movie.
They had no clue that the very same boy was currently bleeding out, laying on a ripped mattress in an abandoned apartment, the only thing keeping him for death being the roof pressuring his wounds. The very same roof that had just mutilated his legs.

Fuck. Now you guys are actually gonna kill me. Welcome to the climax of the book. Like, you guys really thought that the title of the book was just talking about his depression and crap? Nah. I'm not that nice.
Did you like the nightmare? Cause I did. I made it so you saw everything from his point of view, and got some idea of what was happening without me outright saying 'Inko swallowed the pills. Inko fell unconscious. Inko died'. That would be a boring nightmare. That last bit wasn't necessarily needed, but whatever. It's ironic how class 2-A is watching a horror movie when a much better one is just half an hour away. Like, front row seats, man!
I also may have fucked up. To the people who are not following me, (I don't really expect anyone to be, but there are fourteen people for some reason) just look on my profile. I made another book. And the prologue is probably out by now. Ugh. I'm still in the planning phase, but you know. Don't even know how many chapters I'm putting in. I'm going for a nice 25 though, so.
Also, here's a thought I've had for a while. You know how Izuku is always saying 'I've still got such a long way to go'? How is that true? He's already a hero. Like, he talks in a way that says he isn't a hero yet, and has to keep working harder to get there. But, where is that true? He's fought multiple villains and saved people each time. The USJ. He saved Mineta (sadly) and Tsu, defeating villains at the same time. Stain. He saved a pro hero and Iida, defeating a serial killer. Muscular. He saved a little boy from a villain that killed two powerful pro heroes. Overhaul. It was a fucking work study! He already had his liscense, and saved a little girl from the leader of a Yakuza gang!
So, how in the world is he not a hero? I'm serious, even in canon, Izuku has a very depleted sense of self-worth. He's already a hero, so I just don't get it.
Also, the bit in his nightmare. He's basically trying to say, 'hey, this crap is not my fault!'. And, I mean, yes. Inko was a shitty situation. But there was a chance for her to pull herself together. And yes, she did. In earlier chapters, she did get a job, and was close to a promotion. But then, she falls down after her son goes to the dorms. I'm not hating on Mama Inko. But, like, things don't just happen. That's all, and Izuku was trying to voice that.
Don't worry, Izuku isn't gonna die. He'll just get really fucking close.
Anyhow, adios, my guys, gals, and nonbinary pals!
