Isaac's dad has been acting weird all day. It wasn't the spacing out during conversations, or constant twitching, not even the quiet mumbles to himself that caught Isaac's attention. It was that Mr. Miller didn't immediately go get a pack of beer from the fridge to get drunk after a long day of work. It was probably best to ignore it, he always did. Except something seemed off. From Isaacs room you could hear distant shouts followed by a sound of shattered glass. On a normal day he would think his dad was drunk, but then there was a slight sound of hard breathing coming from outside Isaac's bedroom door, slow, then fast, almost peaceful then taking a dark sinister turn.
Slowly, as if drawn to the door, Isaac made his way out of bed. Each snap of the floorboard was another step closer to his father. Turning the doorknob Isaac felt this cool chill run down his spine. He cracked the door open and peeked out and saw absolutely nothing. It was as if all of Isaacs senses were playing tricks on him. Quickly he leaned out the door and looked down both ends of the halls. Running from the living room to the kitchen was a shadow. Too big to be his dad for his dad was fast asleep in his chair.
As Isaac crept down the hallway the stereo started blasting one of his dads old rock CDs. Only they were staticky and almost as if there were voices speaking behind the lyrics, luring him closer. It felt foreign yet promising. Almost like whatever was at the end was what Isaac was meant to find. As he reached the end of the hallway there was a slight glow in the back of the kitchen by the window. Isaac was about to walk closer before his dad woke up springing the recliner right back in it's original state. He turned his head slowly looking Isaac dead in the eye and whispered "Don't move."
Isaac stared in shock as his dad's eyes turned black and his body fell limp to the chair. The air turned thick and suffocating. Isaac felt as if though his lungs were shriveling up and all air had left his body. He couldn't breathe. Gripping his throat his stumbled to the window to try and open it but it was stuck. The glowing was completely gone now and everything was black. The rock music still roared with intensity but all Isaac could hear was the incessant ringing in his ears. It was getting louder and louder making Isaac start throwing himself from side to side trying to make his insides stop screaming, until suddenly it popped. Although there was no relief or end to the pain. Isaac felt hands all over him, grasping ahold of all of him. His arms and legs being squeezed by unknown sources. Bruises were beginning to form along Isaac's arms quickly taking on a purple hue. The agony Isaac felt was unimaginable. Stabbing pains fell hard against his chest while he wreathed on the floor. This was the moment he thought he was going to die, and he welcomed it. Next to go was his vision. His consciousness was last.
