Episode 14

"No, I should be sorry." she turned her head and looked down. "I got worked up again."

"Naw." I disagreed. 

I refused to believe that what she said was wrong. She was just defending us weaker bunch. 

"His Majesty just doesn't know when to quit. You know, ever since we became friends, a month ago, he's tried to pull us apart for so long. It's tiring."

"Hm. Can't argue with that."

"See? It's not your fault. Don't dwell on it too much." I patted Vanessa on the back for support.

She smiled and blushed a bit. "Okay..."

Seraphina's POV

"Anyway, Leroy greatly disapproved of our relationship and tried his best to separate Vanessa and I. He'd do about anything to get us to follow the hierarchy. Like it'd be an accomplishment to see me bowing in front of her or showing fear in the presence of higher ranking students." William sighed. "Honestly, he was the biggest asshole I had ever met."

John and I glanced at each other and immediately knew what the other was thinking. Yep. We've had our fair share of assholes. Especially one in particular that was named Asslo.

John huffed. "Wouldn't be the first time we were introduced to a major asshole."

"Oh?" Willliam turned to John. "You have experience?"

"The worst." he clarified. "When I was pretending to be a cripple back then, this guy Arlo just wouldn't stop bothering me and tried his hardest to make sure Sera and I were sworn enemies. Even got her suspended for a month and got two of his goons to break my phone."

"Wow. What a dick." William responded. "Someone needs to kick him off his high horse."

John smiled. "I already did that ages ago."

"Cocky much?" I asked him. "You only defeated him two times, didn't you?"

"Ah, Sera. You don't know what you're missing." John looked as if he was in bliss. "Beating Arlo at his own game is the best thing that I have ever done in my life. I doubt that there's anything else that's as satisfying as that."

"You guys must really hate him." William said.

"Nah, not really." John replied. 

Hm? He didn't hate Arlo? 

"His personality just pisses me off. Hierarchy this, hierarchy that. Blah blah blah! We get it already! You're in love with order! Why don't you marry it while you're at it?"

I chuckled. Nothing wrong there. Sounds exactly like Arlo.

"Anyway, with the story..." I changed the subject to Volcan.

"Ah, yes!" William flinched in surprise. He smiled gently. "Even as Leroy continued to talk to Vanessa every so often, she never let it get to her and eventually he stopped trying. When I began my second year and she began her third, we started dating. Hmph. Now that I realize it, I was seriously lucky to have her father accept me as her boyfriend. Since I was a low tier and all. After we finished high school and moved on to college, we continued to date for eight more years. And on Valentine's Day of the ninth year, I proposed to her."

"She accepted. Honestly, I was the happiest man at the time when she said yes. Me, a low tier, who was able to capture the heart of a high tier like Nessa. It was unbelievable." he explained with a light smile on his face. "Of course a lot of stuff happened later, but that's all lovey-dovey, so I'll skip to the important part. A year after our marriage, we had you, John."
