Chapter 3

Louis’s P.O.V.

“Lily the auditions for the musical are next week and I was wondering if you could help me practice this song.”

“Wait we need to have a partner to audition for leads?” she asked me shocked.

“Well no, but we’re all required to learn this song and I figured it would be easier to learn if I practiced with you” I said shyly.Lily is such a great person and I’m so glad I met her.

“Ok, sure how about afterschool today at my house?” she asked me.

“Great!”

“Wait what song do we have to learn?” she looked a bit worried

“Some song from the musical Next to Normal”

“Omg I love the musical Next to Normal.” She told me, almost shouting. I just laughed at her.

“Do you like know every musical in the world?”

“Almost every.” She told me.

“so how about I come over at around 3” this will give me about 30 minutes afterschool to change and whatnot. Got to make a good impression.

“I can’t I’m tutoring, how about 3:30.” She said. “great” “ok here’s my address.” She said handing it to me as she went down the hall ways.

I don’t know what it is about Lily that appeals to me. She’s funny, carefree, outgoing and her clothes aren’t covered with labels. I don’t know I just really seem to like her a lot. I know for a fact that she’s already known as the brain at this school but there is just so much more about her that people don’t seem to notice. She’s not one of those girls who separate herself from guys, she is one of the guys but she never fails to show the world that she’s still a girl. I don’t know, I hope she likes me back.

Harry’s P.O.V.

I hate science class so much; it’s the time of the year where we have to dissect the frog. It’s disgusting; most of the guys are into it, so I usually don’t have to do much but this time the teacher is picking our partners. I hope I don’t get a girl, they always screech at the sight of the frog and never do anything, and it’s annoying. The worst part is that we don’t even get gloves.

“Harry, you’ll be Lily” the teacher told me. I groaned. Great I got a girl! And who is Lily anyway?

“Hi I guess I’m you partner.”oh it was the new brain and voice of the school.

“You’re the new girl right.”

“Yeah” she nodded her head.  “

Ok so you go get the frog and I’ll get the tools.” I knew it she’s going to make me do all the work in this dissection! It’s going to be so gross.

“Ok, so first we have to break the jaw.” She said.

“What?”

“Oh don’t be a wimp just stick two fingers in its mouth and pull.” She said with a smirk on her face.

“Ok” and I reached slowly into its mouth. It felt all slimy and weird. I pulled but I didn’t want my fingers to be covered in slime.

“God, just let me do it.” She said shaking her head. And then I heard the crack of its jaw. “Ok write this down. The tongue is forked, yellow, and long.”

“Wait you want me to write the observations down?”

“Well it’s obvious that you’re totally grossed out so yeah.”

“Wait you’re not grossed out?” This frog is gross and the smell unbearable.

“It’s just a normal dissection, besides I don’t like to think of myself as one of those girls who shys away from a challenge.” So she did all of the work. I am literally surprised by this.

“Ok this is my favorite part.” She said sounding so excited.

“What are you going to do?”

“We’re going to open up this gigantic stomach.” She said and she began cutting it open. “Ok I found a full insect and, yes! Our frog is a cannibal!”

“Wait really and I looked and I saw a half digested frog inside of the stomach. “Ugh that’s gross!”

“You are such a girl” she told me laughing

. “Yeah and you’re not.”

“Well I am girl I just prefer not to be one of those girls who only care about clothes, hair, and relationships” she said in a high pitched. I just laughed,

“You can say that again.”

“You talk slowly don’t you?” she asked me

. “And you’re very blunt.”

“Yes I am, thank you very much” she said and then laughed.

”you’re different from other girls I know.”

“Good, I’d rather be different in my own way then the same in a boring way.”

“I guess you’re right.”

“Of course I’m right; you just haven’t known me long enough to realize that.” She told me laughing.

This Lily girl was great and I couldn’t get her out of my head. At lunch today when I was talking to Abby, my girlfriend, I couldn’t help thinking that she was not the least bit like Lily.

“So I plan to wear this amazing dress for the audition. It’s red and has a little ruffle at the bottom and…. Harry are you listening to me?”

“Yeah of course” I nodded my head. Then she just kept rambling on about clothes. I never wanted a relationship like this, yet why am I in one. I need some meaning in my life; I need to break up with Abby.

~next day after school~

“Abby, can I talk to you for a second.”

“Sure.” She said running towards me and kissing me. I pushed her away.

“What’s wrong” she looked at me puzzled.

“The thing is Abby; I don’t think we’re going to work out.”

“Are you breaking up with me?” she asked and I could see her eyes getting misty.

“Is she prettier than me or something?” she asked.

“What are you talking about Abby?”

“Is she prettier than me?” she asked me firmly.

“What there is no she”

“Then why the hell are you breaking up with me Harry. I'm pretty, and popular.”

“Abby, I just don’t think we have enough in common for us to continue this relationship.” I told her calmly.

“Whatever, harry just know that you’re making a huge mistake.” And then I saw her walk off.
