Into The Void Part 4

When I was born, I was abducted by a man, who until now, I thought was my father. His name is Dr. Martin Brenner. And from what I've heard, He's now dead, But that doesn't matter right now. He had his staff kidnap me because I had "dormant psychokinetic abilities", which means I have powers. Not just one power, but 4! Let me list them for you.

Originally I had psychometry, divination and the ability to manipulate. But Dr. Brenner wanted me to be more powerful so I was given the ability to manipulate energy and electricity. Through some science stuff.

Psychometry is the ability to obtain information about a person or an object by touch. Divination is the ability to gain insight into a situation using occult means. Then the power was given, the ability to manipulate energy and electricity.

Since I was given the power to manipulate energy and electricity. It was a lot harder to learn how to control them, or learn how to use them properly. I still don't know how to control them.

I was used for experiments. I didn't know what kind of experiments, until one day I looked in the news and saw what had happened in the town I used to live in. But I'll get into that later.

There were also other kids. 11 kids to be exact. I was the 9th out of 11 of them. Each of us had the ability to do something with our minds. I don't know what everyone could do but I know 8, the girl before me, Could mess with someone's mind and make them think they're seeing things. She ran away when her abilities were strong enough for her to escape. That is exactly what I did.

I got tired of being used for experiments. When I told them I wasn't feeling good, they didn't care. They just wanted to reach their goal. When I finally learned how to use my natural abilities, I broke free.

I didn't know where exactly I was going, but I just snuck into a bus and let it take me away.

Somehow I ended up in Oakland, California. I stayed in the streets for about a week, until a gang walked up to me, asking me to join them. I didn't have anything else to do, so I joined them. I didn't tell them anything about my powers. In fear they would call on me, and then Brenner would come to find me, to take back to the lab.

I changed my looks completely. I didn't stick to the trends of the year. I stuck to my own comfortable style. A style I liked best, I wore black clothes and dark red shirts. Along with some black converse and vans.

The main people in the gang were a couple. They couldn't have any kids, so they took me in as their own. They cared for me, respected me and made sure I was safe. They were a real family to me unlike Brenner. My parents made sure I wasn't messed with at school. By playing loud music and looking all dangerous when they picked me up from school. I remember seeing all the kids faces when they saw who my parents were picking up. I was satisfied.

As I said before, I kept my powers a secret. Rarely using them, And when i did, it would be in secret. Like out in an alley, or hiking area at night.

One day, when I was sitting on the couch scrolling through channels on the television. I came across the news channel. They were covering an incident that happened back in Hawkins, Indiana. The town I stayed in before coming to Oakland. Apparently a lab there created a monster, by creating a portal to a new dimension or something. That ended up killing the whole lab and only a few got out.

When I saw this it all made sense. Whenever I was tested, They always mentioned something about a portal. And they almost succeed at it too. I guess that's why they gave me the power of energy and electricity.

I was really curious after this. Curious of the power I held, What exactly could I do?

That night, I told my parents I was going to hang out with some kids in the hood. Of course that was a lie. I went to an empty alley and hid behind some dumpsters. I looked around to make sure I wasn't followed, or anyone was watching me.

"Alright Mel you can do this" I told myself. I was nervous since I hadn't really been using them much. Especially the energy and electricity powers. I'd say I hadn't used them since i was in the lab.

I scattered my mind, trying to remember what the doctors told me to do, back in the lab when I was testing. "Close your eyes. Relax your breathing. With your hands, push and pull, Like a flow" A voice in my head told me, Which I believe was one of the scientists.

I did as my conscious told me and I flowed my hands. I heard a small spark and opened my eyes, Scared someone had found me. No one found me but I saw a small purple spark in front of me. "Did I do that?" I asked myself. I found it pretty cool, so I tried again. This time not letting anything distract me. When I felt like I was ready to see what I did, I opened my eyes.

In front of me, was a large, purple circle. I stopped moving my hands, and just looked at it. I was kind of waiting for it to disappear, but it didn't. I started to panic, so I walked up to it and tried to wipe my hand through it, hoping it would disappear.

It definitely didn't disappear. In fact, I was sucked into and next thing I knew. I was surrounded by 3 girls on a beach.
