"Yeah... Yeah, it has." She agreed and she take a sip of her drink. She gave a small smile. Demilade smiled. It was so obvious this isn't the man she had once loved and dated. But she can learn to know this new man in front of her.
"When are you returning to Italy?" Demilade asked.
She quirked a brow at him. She didn't know what the question really means. She wasn't sure if he was curious to know if she want to go back and disappear or if he wants to know so he would know how to spend the rest of the time with her.
He was staring at her, burrowing holes with his eyes. It was like he was searching her with his eyes and it kind of creeped her out. It was like he can see the inner her and could read her mind.
"I...." She dropped the glass in her hand down on the table and stare ahead. "I don't think I'm ever returning." She said and she breathed out. Demilade expression was blank. But she continues. "I'm not going back to Italy."
"Why? Did something happen there? I thought you were married. Your husband is there right?"
"Yes, he is." She answered. It was the right time to gain his sympathy. She dropped her glass cup, and she looked forlorn. "But I can never return to him. I lost my child due to his abuse. He was this nice gentleman when we met. But after we got married..." She paused and looked far away. "He changed. He began to abuse me, he beat me..... and he won't let me be. He would not want to see me close to any man. Not even his brother. I lost my unborn child because of him." She wiped away the tears that fell from her eyes with her handkerchief. She hate to lie about her poor son that died from lymphoma but she wanted Demilade to feel for her. She wants his comfort. His soothing and assuring words.
Luigi also never lay a hand on her. He was a man that always fight for the right of women and he doesn't hear of women or girl trafficking. He was strictly against it. He would never touch a woman no matter what happen. But she was lying about him.
She bowed her head and sniffled quietly.
Demilade just stared at her. Until four years ago he always thought he couldn't love any woman except the woman in his front. He believes no woman can affect him the way she does. Not until Angela came into the picture. Yimika had this effect on him that even Angela never had. Bayo will sometimes ask him if he will give Yimika a second chance if she happens to come back. He never answers that question because he didn't know the answer.
But deep down, he knew he could consider the possibility of dating Yimika again. He once loved her. And it is loved because not any more. The woman in his presence is no longer the woman he fell in love with when he was fifteen.
There was something different about her. The connection they have was broken and no longer there.
He doesn't have any woman in his life right now, but he can never take Yimika back into his life.
It was a nice thing to see her again. Alive and well. He wouldn't wish for bad things to happen to her no matter how hurt he was when she left him. So he was glad to see her. But he had finally confirmed what had always bothered him, Yimika did not affect him again. He didn't even feel anything toward her. It was like they never knew each other.
What was most surprising was that he couldn't help but compare her with Lola in everything since he saw her walk into his office. And it surprised him that he had once loved this woman.
All those crocodile tears do nothing to move him. He wanted to at least feel for her about being abused by her husband and losing her unborn child. He thought himself to be emotionless and heartless for not feeling a single thing. Not having any emotions at all despite her story. But he felt no sympathy at all.
Instead, he felt like fate had helped him in taking revenge for what she did. She left him to marry a wealthy white man, leaving him heartbroken. But now after nine years, the marriage is over and she has only pain to remember from those nine years of marriage.
"Sorry about that." He said flatly and Yimika look up at him, baffled. She didn't believe his voice will sound so unconcerned. "As much as I will love to continue talking with you, I have to go. I'm quite busy right now. I have some things to do at work because I will be leaving for Tokyo tomorrow evening."
"Oh..." She exclaimed. "Okay."
So the conversation ends like that. She thought. It might be quite hard to gain Demilade trust again but she was not giving up yet.
Yimika had finally met with Demilade. And it looks like he isn't giving her face. 😂 😂 😂 😂 What a pity!!!
