"How are you feeling now?" Savitri asked Pratap while placing the plate on the table beside the bed. The room was huge and it had an attached verandah that overlooked the mountains  and also the woods. Pratap was standing in front of the glass door that separated the room from the verandah, staring outside, with his hands inside his pockets, wearing a plain white full sleeve kurta and a white pajama.
"I am fine Pishi." He said without turning around.
"Are you sure? Should I inform your father?" Now he turned his face over his shoulder but he still did not look at her face.
"Do you inform him about every small matter when it comes to Aditya?" He questioned with a cold voice. Savitri opened her mouth to say something but she couldn't as he continued. "You do not need to say anything, I know you don't. Because you take care of him yourself. Why couldn't you bring me here with you then? This thought has always bothered me. Why would he get the best of things and I get nothing!" Savitri was familiar with his anger, his disappointment. He always felt like this, deprived. He always wanted to receive the motherly affection that she could offer but his father couldn't.
"I am sorry. I will always be Pratap. Your father was adamant about not letting you come with me. He would have gone to any length to keep you with him and you know that."
She looked at Pratap as he smiled to himself and said, "what good did I get out of that?" He sighed and shook his head. "You can leave now Pishi, I want to stay alone for a while." Savitri was hurt to see him in that state but she knew she couldn't do anything about it anymore. Time never stopped for anyone, so what's done was done. She turned around to leave but before she could get out he said again and this time that was more of a troublesome question.
"Tell me something before you leave. Who was that girl standing behind Aditya?" Savitri frowned and looked back at him.
"Why do you ask?" She said.
"Just.. curious." He shrugged.
"She is the daughter of Purohit ji. I don't think I am the right person to say anything more about this."
She opened the door to get out of his room when he again said, "you don't need to, my assumption says I can get the answers from the right person."

"Whatever I  have done, was for your own good Pratap." Mr. Dev Barman was sitting in an armchair, inside his room, laying on his lap was a book partly closed. The wrinkles on his forehead and the cataracts in his eyes were enough to prove that he had grown old. Pratap stood at the door with his hands crossed over his chest. His face was totally expressionless.
"We come here every year, spend few days and go back to our world. We do not belong here. Let's not make it complicated.  Enjoy the days and don't get too attached to people who can't even relate to your standard."

The moment Mr. Dev Barman finished, Pratap cleared his throat and began. "I hope you are done now." He left a deep breath, uncrossed his hands from over his chest and inserted them inside the pockets of his pajama. "What sort of a  harm did you expect from that girl baba? As far as I have seen, she is the most harmless thing the world could ever contain. Then why do you fear her presence? I am finding this interesting." Pratap tilted his chin upwards as if to declare his determination.
"I fear nothing in this world and she is just a no one. What can she do to me? But you are not me. I know you and trust me these girls, they are cunning.  They only act innocent. I want you to stay away from her and that's final." His father stood up and moved towards the bookshelf.
"I want you to allow her to witness the Puja." He said with the same determination.
"Not possible. She will remain where she deserves to be and if you argue with me anymore the consequence might not be good for you son!"
He knew what his father meant. The thought made him display his all famous evil smirk. "You can't do that baba. And even if you do, believe me I have nothing to loose. I have found something way too valuable than your business. You are welcome to disown me." His father snapped his head back at his son in utter surprise. This was not how he usually behaved. He had always been like him, more of a careerist than anything. "Are you out of your mind? You are choosing that trash over your career? Is it Pratap or Aditya I am talking to?"
Pratap shook his head and said, "comparing me with Aditya will not enrage me today baba. I am going down to announce my decision. Although you are always welcome to oppose me and create a scene down at the hall. Let me experience how much of a trash she is."

"This is impossible Chhoto babu. I can never disrespect your father. I believe whatever he did was for my daughter's own good." Said Purohit ji.
They were standing in the middle of the hall, below the chandelier. Surrounding them stood Savitri, Ashok and few of the servants. "I don't want to argue with you Purohit ji. I have imparted my final decision. She will not spend the days in imprisonment. It should be her own choice to come out or not to come to the temple. Anyone, anyone who dares to stop her from going to the temple or doing anything according to her own choice might not have a good day. That's it."
Ashok was surprised to see everything that was happening in front of him. Since his childhood none of them dared to speak to Purohit ji with this audacity. Although this was somewhat uncomfortable for him to watch but deep down he felt happy. He always knew the only similarity the two brothers had apart from their facial features was their audacity. They could go to any length to get what they wanted. But what confused him was the fact that Pratap was being too generous about his sister. 'Generous', a word that had no connection with Pratap. It had always been the word that described Aditya better than anyone else.

A/N: Hi guys. It's been long since I last spoke to you. I never described any of my characters' rooms or anything with pictures. But somehow I am growing more interest in doing that. 🤗

¤ The picture above justifies my imaginations of how Pratap's room should look like. This room will have some other important connections,
which will be revealed gradually.❤

¤ Please let me know what are your opinions about Pratap.🍁

¤ Few edits will be done to the previous chapters. But I'll keep on informing you.

Stay Healthy.🙂
