This Feels Right

"We're planning a backyard movie night." I told them.

"There'll be food."

"Twinkle lights."

"And a movie. In the backyard. I guess that obvious."

"You know, I'll have Brian drop off the popcorn machine." Lori said.

"I can't make it. My roommates and I are throwing this insane move-in party." Lucas said. Lori have him a sharp look. "I mean, uh... we're going to talk about books."

I was a little disappointed since these were my last few months at home and i wanted to spend as much time with Lucas as possible. There were plenty of other times but I was still just disappointed.

"Just don't pick a baby movie." Jack said, waking out the door right after Lucas. "I'm 11. I have a hair on my arm."

"Let's go!" Dave said, impatiently.

"Wait. My sunglasses are in the backyard." Mom said.

"Oh, sunscreen."

"One last selfie."

"Last selfie. Yeah, right." Dave scoffed.

"Feels like just yesterday we were starting high school." I said.

"Yeah, I couldn't have gotten through it without you two." Alexa told us. Katie and I gave her small smiles and pulled her into a group hug. When we pulled away Katie's phone beeped.

"Oh, it's me." Katie said.

"Oh, and me." Alexa said when her phone beeped.

"It's from UNC."

"Our dorm assignment."

"Wait. We're sharing a room! There'll be no tree between us!"

"That's great." Mom said. "Now you just have to hear from NYU."

"No, I... I don't. Look, I have been making us crazy waiting for NYU, when I already know how happy I'd be with you at UNC." Katie said. "I am going to UNC."

"Really?" Alexa asked.

"Really." Katie nodded.

"Really?"

"Yes, really!"

"Let's go!" Dave said. "I wanna sit close enough to see you get your diploma but far enough so I don't embarrass you." And with that we made our way out the door.

Later that night I was in my room looking at my dorm assignment for YU. My roommate was some girl named Amanda and we had been texting back and forth, getting to know each other. Amanda was from Maine and grew up in a big family. We talked about our high school years but we mainly talked about mine cause she found it interesting.

"So you guys wore Katy Perry type wigs on your first day of high school?" Amanda asked over the phone.

"Yeah." I replied laughing a little.

"That's insane but also really sweet what you guys did for your best friend."

"We would do anything for our friends but especially Alexa."

"Now, tell me the story with this Lucas guy." Amanda said making me laugh before i told her the entire story.

The next day Alexa, Spencer, and I walked into Wired interrupting Katie and Aidens conversation.

"Yay, Alexa and Y/n are here!" Aiden said before walking behind the counter.

"Hello, local barista." Alexa greeted Katie making me confused. What the hell happened to them while i wasn't around?
