𝟑𝟎 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐥

~~ 31. ~~

         A call came from the lobby an hour after their meeting. Uche just finished making some calls ordered by Demilade. She answered the call and nodded telling the caller that she will be down soon.

           He looked at the door that lead to Demilade office. She pressed the intercom.

"Mr Demmy, someone is here to see you. She is in the lobby."

"Who is that?" He asked. "I'm not expecting any visitors."

"A Miss Lola Bamidele." She answered.

          He was quiet for a while.

"I will tell her you are busy." She said and was about to end the call. But he quickly speaks up.

"Bring her in." And he ends the conversation.

           Uche wonders who it was. She was curious to find out who it was. The visitor is not on his list of schedule. He wasn't expecting any visitors.

          She takes off her glasses and stands up, adjusting her blouse and her pant trouser before walking out of her desk and taking the elevator to the lobby.

           Some minutes later, Lola noticed a lady, fair, tall and nicely dressed walking up to the receptionist majestically. She looked educated, beautiful and like someone who commands respect.

         The lady at the desk that attended to her greeted the lady with a smile. Then she turned in her direction. Something flashed on her face but it quickly disappeared into a warm smile. And she approached her.

"You must be Miss Tiwalola Bamidele." She asked when she came to her front.

"Yes, I am." She answered boldly. She doesn't want to feel intimidated. And she stands up on her feet.

"I'm Uchenna Ibeh. Mr Demilade secretary. I heard you want to see him."

"Yes. He is not expecting me." Lola let her know.

          She smiled reassuringly. "That's okay. Please come with me." She said fluently in a business-like manner.

           She leads the way to the rows of elevators. She went to the first one and she pressed a button and the door clinked open. They stepped into the elevator with a man in it. He greeted them both which they replied and the door closed. After a while, the door opened and the man stepped out. The door closed and the elevator keep moving to the sixteenth floor above.

           Lola looked straight ahead. She doesn't want to look nervous or uncomfortable.

            Uche looked at her from head to toe. She was sure she haven't seen her before and she definitely had not seen Demilade with her. She wondered how they are connected and who she was to him. She knew she wasn't a family member. Her boss doesn't do anything family. His only family is his mother and grandmother. And she doesn't know anyone aside from them.

            But the lady beside her is not looking bad. She looks beautiful and humble.

           What was just surprising was her boss had never had a female visitor that wasn't a client in a long time. The last lady that visited him was four years ago and that was one time. An old school friend. Angela God's Will.

         They stepped out of the elevator and she gestured for Lola to follow her. She did. They walked along a long corridor before she knocked once on a large polished wooden door. And she walked in.
