Chapter 25

"Inosuke, Y/N!"
Tanjiro's voice brought me back out of trance.

"I sensed that thing way before you did! I'm gonna hack its head off!"

I said nothing, nodding and following them, Inosuke jumping up first, and we all run into...

"A headless demon?!"

It's massive blade-like arms struck at us, deforming the ground beneath our feet before raising and throwing bits at us.

"This demon doesn't have a head! We can't kill it otherwise, can we?!"
I yell, trying to think of something, Insouke panicking.

"What do we do?! What do we do?!"

Tanjiro spoke up with the perfect idea.
"Calm down! We'll inflict a monk's robe cut on it! Let's try slashing from the base of its neck on its right side to the waist."

That's perfect.
"I'll handle it!"

"It's a lot to cover and it might be really tough, but I bet we can do it, Y/N!"

I nod, but Inosuke rushed first like usual, failing and getting cut.

"Inosuke!!"

"It's fast, but not so fast that I can't dodge!"
He calls out, and I quickly notice the small spider crawling and weaving its web around his arm, my sword reaching it quickly to sever it.

"I'll hold them off!"
Before I can finish, I'm now caught up in the webs, and right in the path of the demon's blade arm.
"I-I can't move!"

I panic, fearing I might die until Tanjiro rushed in front of me, moving the hand away with his sword, Inosuke severing my threads.
"Thanks!"

"Y/N! Inosuke! Let's fight together! We have to work together to take it down!"

Inosuke seemed giddy at the thought.
"You're in my way!"

I get down on one knee.
"Tanjiro! Inosuke! I'll boost you both up!"

They nod, and Tanjiro is first, working as an even higher boost for Inosuke as I lift them both into the air.

Inosuke successfully landed a strong hit on the demon, severing one of its arms clean off, returning for a second jump.

I throw him up even higher this time, Tanjiro lifting me off the ground to do so.
The two of us nod after, our swords ready.

"Water Breathing! Fourth Form : Striking Tide!"
Tanjiro severed its legs, while I sliced the other arm.

"Inosuke! Now!"
I call out to him, and he lands his swords right through the demon perfectly.

It all worked out as it should have, and the demon disintegrated into ash, allowing us just a spare moment to catch our breaths.

"We did it! Inosuke, Tanjiro! You both did amazing!"

"Thank you for your help, too!"
Tanjiro smiled, proud.

Inosuke sat still, unmoving.
"Inosuke...?"
I call out, and he drops his swords, charging at me and Tanjiro.

"Anything you two can do, I do even better, you idiots!"
He gripped us tightly, throwing us high into the air, surprising me.
