Now that you're scared, there's a good news for you! Plagiarism can be avoided. Following are some tips on how to make sure you are original in your ideas ~
1. Use your own brain : Simple as it sounds, use your own ideas, imagination and creativity for any work you've been assigned academically or professionally.
2. Credit the source : If you're using any quote or data for your assignment or in your book, make sure to enclose it withing quotation marks followed by the original author's/source's name.
3. Plagiarism checker : Use a plagiarism checker before you publish/submit your work. For example, Scribbr, Quetext etc. This will help you incase you accidentally copied an existing idea as your own.
That will be the end of it. I hope it helped you all and I hope wattpad will look into this issue.
I want everyone here to feel free in sharing their ideas and I want to trust the authors who simply write a 57 chapter book in 7 days. I want to believe that it was THEIR idea and not a case of copy paste.
And I know it will take a long time to completely toss out plagiarism from it's roots but we can begin by ensuring that the change is born in our own heart and we follow these three aforementioned rules.
Also, when reporting a story for plagiarism, make sure you have the right evidence. Often acclaimed people copy small account's work as their own and get thousands of votes and it's the small accounts that have to suffer.
Thank you for reading this and to everyone out there who supported me, *big hugs*.
