Two boys raised their hands and waved at her as they walked past them. She smiled and waved back. Demilade looked between her and the children who were waving and smiling at her as if they know her before they ran away.
"Don't you want to have children?" She asked. She didn't look at him. Her eyes were on the playing ground.
"Why won't I want to have kids? I plan on having some."
"Then why don't you have girlfriends? You don't look like you are interested in women. You will have to date someone and know who they are then determine if you want them as your other half."
"I know that Lola." He said. "And don't think I'm gonna pay a woman to carry my child. I don't believe in such things. It's nonsense and stupid to me. My mother will disown me." He replied. She smiled. Then he said seriously. "I will date when I find the right woman." He locked eyes with her. She felt the flutter in her heart and she breaks eye contact.
They sat in silence before Demilade asked.
"What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?"
He realized he never asked her about it.
She didn't seem surprised at the question. She knew he will ask someday.
"I don't have a boyfriend for now. If I do, I won't be here. He would have broken up with me. Boys hardly share their woman. Am I right?" She looked at him. He shrugged. He knew she was right. He doesn't think he can ever share his woman.
Not even his fake girlfriend.
"I broke up with my last boyfriend six months ago. He was dating a friend of mine secretly. And I can't do that. Dating a guy that is also dating my friend."
"You didn't ask him to choose?"
"There was no need to do that. If he could date my friend while dating me, he can date another girl without me knowing later. There was no use. He barely has a future."
"What?" Demilade exclaimed.
"He was a headache from the start. He thinks the world revolves around him because he is handsome." Lola said. "I didn't regret leaving him. I was even proud." She said nonchalantly.
She knows Demilade didn't need to know much about her but she felt the urge to tell him. Despite he can be a jerk. He had some good sides. He can learn to be better. He just needs to learn how to care about other things. There are things and people outside his work and family.
She had been living with him for the past two weeks and she had seen different versions of him. She decided she love the one sitting beside her now. He doesn't seem to care that he is a CEO and a billionaire now. Sitting close to him make her heart pound so fast. She wished he could be like this for the rest of the time she had to stay with him. He had been in a lively and good mood than ever before and she like it.
And she wished nothing would spoil the moments of the beautiful day.
Demilade stood up from his seat and said. "Let's go." She nodded and she got up to her feet. He hand her his popcorn that had not been touched. She took it from him and they leave the car park.
Lola was talking about some kids on the playground without knowing a car was coming. Demilade pulled her closer and she stood frozen in his front as they watch the car speed past them.
"You should watch where you are going." He said still holding her around her waist on the skin that the crop top wasn't covering.
She felt a clutch in her belly again but this time harder and deeper. She realized, stupefied, that it was pure, animal attraction.
