If eyes could kill, her eyes would have to kill Lola on the spot. But Lola said nothing. She had planned not to stoop so low and greet her first. So she only looked at her with a small smirk on her face.
She turned back to Demilade and she forced a smile.
"Okay then. And thanks for the last time. The dinner was magnificent. I enjoyed it so much. I hope we can have some another time." She said with a smile and she looked at Lola.
"I'll try. See you another time." He said.
"You too." She said. He nodded and he pulled Lola toward the door. And Lola could see the anger on Sholape's face before she turned toward the door making her smile to herself.
He takes his hand from hers when they get out of the building. And he walked toward the car park where he parked his car.
Lola followed after him and she entered the car and Demilade pressed a button and the door close.
Demilade drove out of Chicken Republic. He planned on going back home. He still has things to do.
"Why didn't you say Sholape never likes you?" He asked without looking at her.
Lola was shocked at the question. She didn't expect him to ever ask such a question. Sholape was his friend.
"What?.... Why do you ask that?"
"I don't need to say. And don't bother lying about it." He said.
"There was no need to say such things. She is your friend and it's not good making her look bad in front of you. There is nothing I was going to gain from doing that. I understand she doesn't like people like me." She answered not telling him that Sholape seem to be attracted to him and she hate the fact that he had been the one to bring her to her.
Demilade said nothing and he kept driving. Lola isn't as bad as he pictured her from the start. His best friend had been right. And he regretted having such thoughts of her. But he didn't tell her.
He was planning on going home when he saw some children coming out of an amusement park. And he felt drawn to them. He did a U-turn and drove back to the park surprising Lola who had thought their day had ended and they were going back to the boring mansion.
He didn't plan on driving inside so he find a place to park his car.
"You can park it there. There will help you to watch over the car." She said when she noticed he was finding a spot to park his car.
He looked at her but said nothing and did as she said.
The boys around the place all stand up and began to hype the owner of the car as the car move closer to them.
Demilade found a good spot and parked his car. He looked at Lola. She understands the question in his eyes.
"Just give them what they want. They are not thieves. They are just thugs." She said.
He believed her so he stopped the engine and climb down the car into the lousy environment where the men were drinking alcohol and talking so loudly. Some men walked up to them greeting and hailing them. They were in a yellow kind of uniform indicating they are road thugs collecting money from bus drivers.
"Please help me watch over the car." He said to one of them.
"No wahala boss. (No problem boss) It is safe." One of them said. And they raise their hands hailing him. He brought out some cash from his sweatshirt and gave it to them.
