Steph stepped off the boat gracefully, as she always was. She was patiently walking behind a family of 3, with her partner Florence and Florence's sister Elle walking behind her. She was just thinking of how good it was that she picked the tshirt over the long sleeved shirt because it was quite warm out. That's when the child in the family ahead ran into Steph at full force, sending him backwards. The child couldn't be any older than 4 or 5. In a moment of panic and because Steph is too impulsive, Steph reached out to grab him. She immediately regretted that decision because she accidentally touched his forehead.
As soon as she touched his forehead, he became a half-turtle and half-human with wings bigger than him. His mother shrieked.
Stephanie knew that she messed up royally.
Her ability to heal as a mage is still so new to her, she thought that she could catch him or at least heal him when he hit the ground but her hand was too close to the boy's head.
When she touched his forehead she saw what ability he wanted, he wanted to be a flying Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and without intending to give him this ability, she did so anyways outside of her own control.
"Oh no, I'm sorry." She said to the boy whose wings were beginning to flap.
She knew he'd be up in the air soon, so she tried to hold the wings but they beat her strength. Steph went flying and landed right beside the boat. Luckily she didn't land in the water, but she was close. If she had landed in the water, she would've transformed into her mermaid's form.
The wings flapped faster and the boy began to cry, so did his mother. His father also tried to hold him back but the wings were too strong and sent him flying the opposite direction of Steph.
The boy flew up into the air. There were several people around gasping in aww.
This is when Florence stepped in. She whipped out her sorcerers wand and cast a spell on the boy which made him lose his wings. Luckily, he hadn't flown too high and one of the bystanders caught him. The man who caught him quickly put him down and ran away in fear for the boy was still half-turtle.
There was a circle of people that formed around the boy as onlookers gasped and whispered to one another, some screamed and ran away.
The boy cried. His parents tried to get to him through the crowd and failed.
"I knew I should have been in the lead, damn Steph!" Florence shouted at Steph who was dusting herself off from hitting the ground.
"I'm sorry! I didn't realize how close he was!" Steph yelled back.
Florence's 5-year-old sister, Elle, stood next to Steph and was mumbling about how she could help.
"No, you're not getting involved." Steph said in a rational tone. "I made a mistake that your sister can fix."
And fix it Florence did. She first cast a spell on all bystanders who weren't mutant to continue about their business as if nothing was out of place. Then she and the boys parents, who both happened to be mutants themselves, were able to make it to the boy.
Florence quickly put her hand on the crying half-turtle boys chest and gave him one heavy push, using her mutant ability which is to make anyone into their truest self.
The boy was now a 20-year-old man with a beard and a muscular body which ripped through his clothes.
"Oh great!" His mother exclaimed.
"I have a friend-" Florence said just as the father was about to say something. "who is able to return him to the way he was, but I must tell you-"
Florence was cut off by the boy who was now a man "I'm not going to be a child again."
"That is what I was going to warn you about." Florence said as she backed away seeing the father getting angry.
"My son is my little boy and you've done this to him!" The father exclaimed.
"But dad, it's still me, I'm still Adam." The man, Adam, said.
Florence backed all the way back to Steph and Elle. She quickly wrapped her cloak around her partner and sister, then used a teleportation spell to whisk them 200 feet away, into an alley in the city.
They traveled to Italy from France on a very important mission. Elle's ability needs a very specific trainer, only found in Italy. Florence couldn't run the risk of her sister or her partner being hurt by that angry father, especially when she doesn't know what his abilities are. And he looked quite angry as he was lunging towards them.
Florence whipped her cloak back and put her hood up. Her cloak is a dark blue which reminds Steph of the night sky just before it becomes completely dark.
Steph is in love with Florence's figure, she's much more curvy than Steph is, but for some odd reason she felt jealousy as she watched her sexy partner get settled with her cloak. Underneath the cloak she was wearing clothing similar to Steph's, a tshirt and leggings.
"Are you guys re-" Florence cut herself off when she looked at her little sisters feet, "Why are you wearing those flip-flops when I told you to wear the sneakers!" She exclaimed.
Elle looked down and saw that one of her flip-flops were missing.
"Shit, does that mean it stayed behind?" Steph asked.
Florence was very flustered "Yes, this means we have to hurry up before they track us down, come on." She said and quickly picked up her sister. Off went the other flip-flop and Steph picked it up from the ground.
"I could really use a joint right now, but the best I have are cigarettes." Steph said as she started to take off her backpack as they walked through the streets.
"I know but this isn't the time, and you know I hate Elle seeing you do that. Put your backpack back on." Florence demanded.
Steph rolled her eyes but she still needed to put the flip-flop in her backpack. It's a fairly large backpack which looks even bigger because it's on Steph, who is very thin.
"Substances help but they're not everything when it comes to magic. Do not get addicted, please." Florence warned.
Steph put her backpack back on and the two girls walked faster.
"Thought you were quitting anyways." Florence says with a hint of disappointment in her tone as they walk through the busy street. "And you," Florence said as she switches her attention to her little sister, "are getting too big for me to carry you around, luckily for you I'm strong enough, but I may not be next time."
"I'm not that big." Elle sulked.
"You will be if we fail to get you to Cameron in time." Florence said.
Cameron is a supreme wizard in hiding who Florence has been able to contact using one of her friend's ability. Their ability is to track down and communicate with whomever or whatever living being they'd like to. Florence's friends name is Morgan Zimmerman. And currently, Morgan is also in hiding. It's crucial that the three girls do not get caught whilst walking around in Italy, but now they have a new challenge to face; hiding from that family and their mutant friends.
Florence wants to contact Morgan, but it has to be Morgan who contacts her first. Morgan checks in every now and then, so Florence is really hoping that Morgan will check in soon.
"Your friend is not the only tracker, you realize." An unknown male voice said to the three girls within their minds.
"I just had a thought that I'm sure was not mine." Elle said.
Florence is proud of her little sister for being able to articulate her thoughts so well and differentiate them.
"Yes, all three of us did, I'm sure." Florence said.
"I heard it too, can we get there faster?" Steph said.
"Hahaha you won't just get away with this." This time he was more clear in their ears rather than just their minds.
Florence smiled and thought "We'll see." as she ducked into a bakery still holding Elle. Steph followed without hesitation.
The bakery smelt nice and the aroma of freshly made bread and pastries filled the girls nostrils, but Florence knew this was just a cover. There were 4 other people in the bakery, plus the man behind the counter who Florence thought was Cameron.
Florence put Elle down and Elle immediately went to Steph to take her hand.
Florence stood behind the person at the counter who was purchasing a loaf of bread.
Two of the people left the bakery and three more took their place, but something felt off about one of them to Steph, so she tucked Elle behind her.
"Flo," Steph said in a cracked voice "I think that's the tracker."
"Thank you." The woman said who was in front of Florence. The woman picked up her bread and left, but the look on her face indicated to Florence that something was definitely off and that she was a part of it.
"Dad, come quickly!" The man behind the counter called.
Florence went back to her partner and sister when she noticed one of the new customers getting too close.
"I'm sorry, sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." An older man's voice said as soon as he came from out back. His son had taken his place out back.
Without hesitation, the new customers all left, all but the three girls, and their memories were wiped as soon as they passed through the door.
"Ladies, please come out back and follow my son, Dominic."
The girls nodded and walked to the back of the store while the older man locked up and put up a closed sign.
