CLICHÉ TROPES can be excellent when done correctly. things like being percy's sister and then having a love interest can be done wonderfully if thought and a good backstory is put into it. things like being the daughter of hera or the daughter of artemis can be done amazingly if ( say it with me folks ) thought and a good backstory is put into it. there are many, i mean many cliché tropes within our lovely fandom, so expect cliché's to make a riveting return ( look at that alliteration, omfg ). but for now, i'm going to focus on three specific cliché's. being percy's sister, a daughter of hera x character, or a daughter of artemis x character (and hopefully will section through specifid love interests). ( i probably will be doing one for son of hera and son of artemis in another chapter along with percy's brother ).

PERCY'S SISTER...

little background info: i didn't specify if this was like actually [oc name] jackson or like a daughter of poseidon or like a daughter of neptune. but this applies to all three. but i will specify exactly if it's for percy's twin/sister.

THE DO'S...

• remember that they do have to actually have a personality ! it really can't just be " oh look, i'm percy's sister. ahahah water. " please don't. it kills me. it hurts me. it violates my human rights.

• make their powers different to percy ! i'll use my fanfic as an example ( and ew look at that self promo. get her away. d r o w n ). my character lien shen, has what i call 'water wading' where she can travel through any body of water and air because scientifically ( look at that flex. ro go back to being a dumb bitch. also lol credit me if you use this idea lol. decency and politeness uno what i mean ), the air has water vapour within it. sure, retain the whole speaking to horses and fish thing. but make their actual powers different. or, for some,,, f l a v o u r, give them no powers ( it might actually be fun to play with. you get to give them cool jealousy ). heck, make them less powerful than percy  or make them think that ( we love a bit of self doubt ).

• if they are related to percy, they don't have to look like a carbon copy of him ! athena ( cannonically, i believe. correct me if i'm wrong ) has brown hair. annabeth chase got her blonde hair from her dad, fredrick chase. said oc may have sally's hair ( brown ) or sally's eyes ( blue ) but may retain a feature from poseidon ( black hair or green eyes ). if you are going to give them a carbon copy sort of look, give them a different personalit- ( RO STOP SPOILING YOUR NEXT POINT ).

• personality ! i. swear. to. gods. if i see one more percy's sister is exactly like her fucking brother i'll kashoot myself off a damn cliff and drown myself in milk and cheerio's. make them different to percy in some way ! maybe have them keep his humour, but be shy. maybe make them jealous of him if they aren't mortall-y  ( is that a word, i- ) related to him ! maybe they are jealous he's so well known and they're not ! diversity please !

• love interests ! well i think it goes without saying let's not pull a fucking percy x his sister. please. if you do, i- please no. just don't. personally, i like the trope ( i really am i sucker for cliche's written right ) about jason x percy's sister ( mortally related or via their parentage ). but i think leo x percy's sister would work too ( fire and water. some good dynamics. opposites uno ). no frank pls. he's literally a descendant of neptune i- i think hazel would work really well. especially if said oc has the snark of percy. piper and percy's sister ? personally, i don't see it. i would so get piper with like a daughter of demeter or hecate. but percy's sister ? i don't really so it bro.
