The youngest Twin Jade brother was where he spent most of his days lately, studying in the Library Pavilion. He sat by the window, the incoming breeze lightly touching his long black hair while his tall body was as unmoving as stone. His golden eyes stared out the window at the giant magnolia tree which was now in full bloom with white blossoms the size of a man's hand.  Their sweet fragrance penetrated his nose and caused his mind to wander to times long gone.

Even though he knew all 4,000 rules of the Lan Clan, he continued to study them every day. It wasn't because he needed to be reminded of them as he had known them since he was old enough to speak.  It was mostly because he needed to keep his mind occupied and focused on something other than....him. Today marked the second anniversary of their separation and Lan Zhan was beginning to lose hope in his heart. Hope of ever seeing his companion again.  The only man who had ever broken through his tough exterior and made him smile.

Before Lan Wangji left for the day, he glanced around the library one more time.  His eyes eventually settled on the drawing he had picked up from a book he had been pretending to read. It was a drawing of him, sitting in this exact spot, doing the exact same thing. His long delicate fingers traced over it lightly as he tried to hold back emotions that threatened to break free. But, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop the pink from touching his earlobes.

He began folding it carefully, as if it was a treasure to be protected.   As he finished and tucked it back into the book, the faintest of sounds reached his ears.  And then it disappeared.  Lan Wangji listened even harder and....THERE IT WAS AGAIN!!  It was not a natural sound from an animal or the wind. It was music. Music played with a flute. HIS flute! Playing THEIR song!

Lan Zhan quickly ran out of Cloud Recesses, passing students who looked at him with confusion in their eyes. Could it be? he thought. Had he returned? Or was he just imagining things again? It wouldn't be the first time he believed he had heard the music only to find nothing. No one.

An hour later, as he climbed the hill where they had said their goodbyes and walked in opposite directions all those years ago, the music grew louder and Lan Zhan's heart was pounding in his chest. Never before had he felt such anticipation at seeing someone.  He prayed that he would not suffer disappointment once again. He didn't think his soul would take it even one more time.

Finally reaching the summit, his breath hitched in his lungs. The man standing there was as beautiful as he remembered. His shiny ebony hair was pulled into a pony tail with a long scarlet ribbon and his robes were the color of midnight. His lips were pressed to the ornate black flute with a red tassel hanging from it and his long fingers moved gracefully over the holes.  He played with his eyes closed, concentrating with immense effort, summoning the music to find the one person he was searching for.

Lan Zhan moved closer and the man suddenly stopped playing, slowly lowering the flute to his side. A gentle smile appeared on his lips and he cautiously turned around. It was as if he, too, was afraid that this might be a dream and, that if he moved too fast, he would wake up from this illusion.

"Wei Ying." Lan Zhan said calmly.

Wei Ying's body relaxed and his smile became almost blinding to look at. He slowly moved closer, stopping only inches from Lan Zhan's face. For a moment, they simply stared into each other's eyes, unblinking, confirming that it really was this person standing before them. Wei Ying took a slow, deep breath, as the breeze carried the familiar scent of sandalwood to his nose.  He closed his eyes again as memories flooded through him. No one smelled like his Lan Zhan.  So many emotions bubbled up deep inside that he found it difficult to swallow.  His heart beat faster, his breaths grew quicker, and his body warmed as one overpowering thought went through his mind.

HE'S HERE!

When Lan Zhan saw Wei Ying close his eyes, the urge to kiss him became unbearable and, without thinking, he moved in and planted a soft kiss on his lips. Wei Ying's eyes snapped open in an instant and he stared in disbelief at this confusing man before him.

What was THAT? What did Lan Zhan just do? Is this really Lan Wangji standing in front of him or is he dreaming again?  And then he realized, if he was dreaming again, he never wanted to wake up.  Ever.

Wei Ying's devilish smile grew and he said sweetly, "Lan Zhan, did you miss me that much?"

"More." was the only word answered before Lan Zhan's hands grabbed Wei Ying by his collar and forcibly pulled him closer, kissing him harder and longer this time. Wei Wuxian froze.  He didn't know what to do! Certainly, this was not HIS Lan Zhan!  His Lan Zhan would never do such a thing!  Had something happened to him while he was gone?  Had he been poisoned or something worse?

Then, he felt Lan Zhan's warm wet tongue touch his lips cautiously and Wei Ying almost jumped out of his skin! But his body still wouldn't move. It was as if Lan Zhan had placed a talisman on him, preventing him from escaping his grasp. His head became disoriented and his body hummed all over.  He opened his mouth to protest and Lan Zhan's tongue swiped inside, capturing Wei Ying's, caressing it.

Wei Ying tried to fight back, placing his hands on Lan Zhan's broad chest to push him away but, after a few seconds of being kissed like this, his entire body simply melted into Lan Zhan's arms. His arms wrapped around Wangji's neck and Lan Zhan wrapped his around Wei Ying's small waist, pulling him even closer, pressing their bodies together.

Lan Zhan's kiss became frantic, possessive, as if he wanted to claim Wei Ying as his own and never let him go again. Before parting, he even lightly bit Wei Ying's bottom lip, tugging on it before reluctantly releasing it.  They were both breathless, weak in the knees, and looking at each other in disbelief. It was something they had both desperately desired and were now unwilling to let end.  They were literally afraid to let the other go for fear of losing him once more.

Wei Ying tried to form words but all that came out of his mouth was gibberish.  He blushed.  Lan Zhan saw the pink in his cheeks grow brighter and his heart warmed.  Complete joy filled him and he never wanted it to leave.  He never wanted Wei to leave.

"Wei Ying, come back to Gusu with me." Lan Zhan grabbed Wei Wuxian's hand and held it, his eyes begging him to agree.

Wei Ying just smiled, nodded, and followed Lan Zhan down the mountain towards Cloud Recesses.
