SUMMARY:
Ashton Irwin just wants to protect his best friend, the best friend he may or may not have a crush on. When playboy Michael Clifford gets an eyeful of her and tried to make a move, Ashton rashly bets that Michael won't be able to hook up with her.
Who will win?

"Hey," Ashton said, falling into step with his considerably shorter best friend.
Alexis looked up at him and smiled. "Hey, Ash! How was physics?"
Ashton wrinkled his nose. "It couldn't have possibly gone worse," he admitted, and Alexis laughed.
He watched her face change as she laughed. Her eyes crinkled, her dimples showed, and she looked like an angel walking on earth.
She sighed, shifting her textbook from one arm to the next. "Well, I guess now I've got to go bear through that god-awful class."
Ashton was about to interrupt when someone whistled and shouted, "Hey, hottie! Can I get your number?"
Ashton's hand immediately curled into a fist, and his jaw locked. It wasn't a new phenomenon, boys hitting on Alexis. After all, she was amazing. He couldn't blame them.
He didn't mind it, really, because Alexis never responded.
But this time, Alexis raised an eyebrow at the whistler - Michael Clifford - and answered, "Maybe next time."
"Why'd you answer?" Ashton hissed.
Alexis looked up at him, startled by his tone, and shrugged. "Because I wanted to?" she asked. "What's the big deal?"
"It's Clifford!"
"I know his name."
"He just wants to get in your pants."
Alexis laughed, and even though he was furious, the sound relaxed him a bit. "Chill, Ash. If he tries, I'll just tell him to fuck off. It'll be okay, don't worry."
"I don't like him," Ashton muttered.
Alexis shrugged. "I can tell."
"Don't talk to him," he pleaded.
Alexis just shrugged again. "No promises."
Even though they were far from Michael, he could practically feel him staring at Alexis, already planning his next step.
Because that's all girls were to Clifford: a game. A prize to be won.
And it looked like Ashton would have to play his game in order to protect his best friend.
