Young eyes peered out the window of an apartment, squinting warily in search of any threats that may lurk around corners. All they saw was the destruction of a city that once was whole and full of life, now left in shambles. They took a step back and inhaled deeply to calm themselves but to no avail. There was a backpack that had been previously packed in preparation for a long journey ahead of them. Where were they going? Nobody knew.
Quickly, they snatched up the bag, swinging over their shoulder and making their way towards the front door. Their hand reached out for the handle... They looked back upon the dark apartment in a moment of hesitation... To leave one's home in a time of a crisis was something they weren't sure they were ready for...
But there was no time for delay. With a twist of the handle, the door opened as they were blinded by sunlight.
The nightmares were just about to begin.
