Chapter 16

"Head to Asakusa, Tokyo, now! Caw!"

"Hoo. Rumor has it a demon is lurking around."

"We already have another mission?! But-"
Tanjiro was cut off mid-sentence.

"Oh yes you do! Caw!"

"Can't we take a minute to recover?!"
I call back, desperately in need of sleep after everything we went through.

"There's no time. Get going. Hoo."
The birds flew off, and we both sighed.

"We should start moving. The sooner we start walking the sooner we get there."
He sighs and holds his hand out for me.

I nod and follow along, getting a brilliant idea, unable to help myself as I smile.

"Hey, Tanjiro. Ever wondered what it would be like to fly?"

"Why do you ask?"
He seems puzzled until I open my glider.

"Wanna try it?"
I grin, hoping he'd say yes.

"Did you hit your head?! We don't fit on that!"

Without a moment to spare, I grab him and get ready, making sure I'm tightly holding on.

"Hold on tight!"

"Y/N, wait-!"

Almost immediately we're up in the air, and Tanjiro is holding onto me and the glider for dear life, terrified as he let out a scream.

"What about Nezuko?! What if we fall because of the added weight?!"

"Don't overreact. I've done this before, trust me."

He sighs and slowly begins to warm up to this new feeling, looking down at the terrain below us.

"It's... quite pretty from up here."

"Isn't it? Everything seems so small but so much bigger at the same time. And we're much faster this way."

He agrees, and we keep going, Tanjiro now quite enjoying the flight, fascinated by everything we passed by and just how amazing it all looked from above.

"How can you even do this?"

"Airbending. Just controlling the flow of air around the glider to get around."

"Isn't it tiring?"

I can't help but laugh.
"Absolutely was at first. I've crashed more often than I count. But I got the hang of it in time."

We reached our destination by night, and although we didn't quite fit in, and we were on a mission, Tanjiro and I couldn't help but explore for a little bit.

I've never seen something this amazing! There are even more people here, it's so crowded! So many lights, so many colors and banners, so full of life and detail! Oh, I could stare for hours just soaking it in!

The different scents of all kinds of food and the never-ending chatter of the people around me were so overwhelming and I love it!
