Chapter 15

I take out my glider again.
"Wanna go on a sweep with me then?"

"No, thanks. It's easier closer to the ground."
Tanjiro smiled and I get up in the air again, but now I follow close behind, serving as a larger view for them.

"Anything weird?"
Tanjiro calls to me.

"Not a person or demon in sight but us."

He suddenly ducks down.
"I found something! There's a new scent in the area. It's close."

"Nothing visible yet, but I'll be even more on the lookout."

"Wait a second, don't tell me... Are you two...?
Mr Kazumi spoke up, seemingly surprised that he's right.

"Why else would we be out at night looking for demons?"

I see Tanjiro run, and I quickly follow behind, certain he must've caught on to the demon's scent.

"The scent got stronger! The demon's active!"

"I still can't see anything, but I'm right behind you, ok?"

"Got it!"

He stopped at a crossroad, and I drop down next to him, somehow still not catching a glimpse of the demon.

Tanjiro caught on to the source, and stabbed his sword right into the ground.

The demon was underground! No wonder I didn't see anything!

A black liquid emerges from the hole, turning into some sort of puddle, a piece of green fabric emerging.

Tanjiro immediately dives in after, and quickly emerges with the kidnapped girl.

I ready my sword for the demon, watching it emerge from the puddle, it's hideous face glaring at me.

Damn it, what is this? Is this what Urokodaki meant by blood-demon art?

"What did you do with the girls you kidnapped?!"
Tanjiro yells, and I grip my sword tighter, ready to swing.

The demon grits his teeth against each other, producing an unbearable sound, but I can't take my eyes from it for a second!

"There's some things we wanna know!"
I yell at it, only for it to sink into the ground again.

"Who was that?"
Mr Kazumi asks, rather surprised.

"I need your help. Hold her for me and stay close so I can protect-"

"Let me do it! Tanjiro, I'll defend Mr Kazumi and the girl, my eyesight isn't good for this because the demon works underground."

He nods, and I take my stance by the two, scanning the ground beneath me, as well as the area near me for any sign of the demon.

Tanjiro looked around, searching for the scent again. As he readied his sword, three demons appear out of the ground almost instantly!

"Damn it! There's three of them?!"

Tanjiro quickly jumps out of the way before the two of us strike. My airbending would throw the liquid up and confuse them while Tanjiro used the eighth form of water breathing to land a strong blow on them.
