Chapter 15

He chuckles, and lets me stare for a little longer before we continue our mission, people give me a few odd stares, but it's not that uncommon.

We cross paths with a rather exhausted looking man, hearing a few women gossip.

"Look, there's Kazumi. Poor thing doesn't look so good..."

"He was right next to Satoko when she was taken."

We stop and look at him for a bit but keep walking. Almost everyone seems to be talking about the missing girls.

Tanjiro turns around and runs back to the man, who he calls out to.

"Mr. Kazumi!"

The man slowly turned around, looking at the two of us.
"I wanna hear what happened last night; from you."

The man seems somehow relieved as he takes us through town on an empty road.

"This is where Satoko was taken... But, I'm sure you don't believe me..."

"I do believe you. We're here to help."

I nod, looking around the area.
"Do you smell anything odd?"

To my surprise, he ducked down to the ground, giving it a sniff as the man seems utterly confused.

"Ah, don't mind it, he just has a very sharp sense of smell. Find anything yet, Tanjiro?"

He nods.
"The faint scent of the demon is still here. But it's really uneven... Something's not right."

An idea popped into my head, and I smile.

"Hey, Tanjiro? Is it okay if I go up for a little? Just to do a quick sweep of the area from above, maybe ask more townspeople."

"That sounds great. If it takes a while we can meet at sunset back here, okay?"

I nod and take out my glider, opening it and holding on.

"Mind giving me a little room? I don't wanna knock you down."

He nods and steps back, and all it takes is one strong gust towards the ground, and I'm up.

I swirl around above him a few times, hearing his surprised remark.
With a wave, I'm up and on my way, getting a good view of the town.

If it wasn't big before, it sure seemed bigger from above. A few children would scream with joy and laughter when I'd pass above, and eventually I would stop down and ask around.

It's nothing that we didn't already know, which was a little frustrating, but I had to keep trying.

Eventually, the sun started setting, and I made my way back to the spot we were supposed to meet at.

Tanjiro greets me when I land, and I nod, seeing Mr Kazumi with us still.

"Did you find anything?"
He asks, and I shake my head.

"Nothing new that we haven't heard rephrased dozens of times. You?"

"Nothing. We should have more luck now at night, though."
