"They produce steel that can absorb sunlight."
At this point, we're just going along with him, because he's clearly quite passionate about this topic.
"Wow, really?"
Tanjiro actually seems impressed, and I will admit, I am too.
"You see, The mountain the originate from is bathed in sunlight all day..."
I yawned a little, but still listened, because it actually became quite interesting.
I heard Urokodaki say something, but didn't exactly understand what.
The man suddenly turned his head around, startling the both of us with his sudden change of attitude.
"Heey! You're a child of brightness aren't you? Well, isn't that lucky?"
He poked Tanjiro.
"Uh, my parent's names were Tanjuro and Kye-"
"That's not what I mean."
He lifts his hand to tap Tanjiro on his forehead.
"You know how your hair and eyes have a reddish hue to them? When a family who works with fire has a child like you, it's considered lucky and calls for celebration~ There's a good chance your sword will turn red!"
He now poked Tanjiro's cheek, and the weirdness returned.
"And you! It's been quite a while since I've seen another airbender turn Demon Slayer! Much less one who already mastered their skills. The last one I've heard of died years ago."
He shoved his face uncomfortably close to mine, and I'm pretty sure he was practically staring right through me.
It gave me shivers as I chuckle nervously, stepping back.
"Oh, uhm... Thank you? I guess?"
"Your sword should be a brilliantly bright shade of silver! What a striking combination between you two! Right, Urokodaki?"
I could now hear Urokodaki clearly, looking towards the sound with Tanjiro.
"Yes."
Eventually, we brought him inside, and he gave us our swords.
They felt so powerful to hold, and I could stare at the already beautiful handle and guard for hours.
Tanjiro's handle was black and red, the guard similar to a cart wheel, but obviously made of a dark metal.
Mine was surprisingly far more light, a lovely blue, white and gold combination, the guard holding the carving of my people. The detail was quite stunning; simple, and yet intricate, and we had yet to even unsheathe our swords.
"Come on, draw it already! Nichirin swords are also commonly referred to as color-changing katanas. Depending on the bearer, they change color."
Tanjiro looks at me, and I smile.
"You go first, I'm really curious what color yours will be."
He nods, and begins draw his sword, and I'm actually quite excited! If it's like what Haganezuka said, his could be a stunningly bright shade of red!
He slowly takes his sword out, observing the gorgeous blade before it can begin to change color.
Surprisingly, it wasn't red at all, or... any color, in fact! It's just...
