"Wait... You ssseem particularly familiar..."
The beast easily threw me against its hard body, shoving its disgusting face right up against mine.
Its nose was nearly the size of my head.
The stench of decay was potent enough to pierce through my lungs as I tried to hold in any trace of clean air to myself.
It sniffed me, glaring right into me as it seemed surprised.
"Was your mother a demon ssslayer, by any chance~? I've seen those eyes before... Yesss... Those eyes..."
"What are you talking about?!"
"Yesss! I remember! You must be the child of that dessspicable airbender girl! What a gift! I get to kill both the Avatar and that brat's child!"
3rd Person POV
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!"
The girl screamed with the force of a tsunami, her expression filled with hatred and disgust as she took out her sword, gripping it tightly.
"You don't know my mother! You don't know me!"
"Why, you haven't changed, Torri! Ssstill so angry... So bitter... Has he taken another one of your beloved family members again?"
From afar, the scene unfolded loudly, demons nearby crawling toward the commotion.
"I AM NOT TORRI! I AM Y/N!"
Almost her scream alone blew the beast away, the air now swirling around them all as the brightness of her eyes and tattoos illuminated the night.
She cut at the beast over and over, getting thrown down but picking herself up almost instantly. Her determination and fighting spirit terrified a majority of the demons, who scampered away in fear.
Some demons could barely comprehend what they were witnessing... They knew what it meant but never expected this.
The smart ones ran away, valuing their pitiful life over trying to eat the Avatar.
Looking up, all their eyes could focus on were her. They had never witnessed even a fraction of the anger that flowed from her in any other human being.
The nearby water was now in her hands, forming a sharp icicle that first pierced the eyes of the demon.
Her eyes locked onto the thin opening thread, and never let go as she called out :
"Water Breathing : Fourth Form! Striking Tide!"
Almost as soon as it started, it was over, the head of the beast collapsing to the ground with a thud, looking up to see that she still floated above the ground, tears now in her eyes, the demons all ran away, fearing they would be next.
Slowly, she came down, and she made her way to the decapitated head of the demon, kneeling down by its side.
The now headless body slowly faded into ash, and the girl knew her fight had been won. But the teary eyes of the beast had somehow melted her rage.
Despite the hatred she held for the hideous creature, she couldn't help but feel pity for this being, the child-like fear that emanated from him softening her heart.
