"I have to get used to running down the mountain with a sword. The weight always throws me off, so I thought it's best to practice."
I perk up, smiling.
"I can help! I have to carry my staff with me all the time, so I can help you out!"
"Really? Thank you Y/N!"
"Of course. Friends help each other. Now just hold your arms out to the side and..."

"Uwaah! This really hurts!"
I whine as I keep swinging my sword at nothing, something me and Tanjiro had to do every day. One thousand times too!
"I know, but the faster we do it the sooner it'll be over, right?"
"Once you do one thousand, do five hundred more."
Mr. Urokodaki broke that little sense of comfort right in two, and we sighed, carrying on until dark, returning back home with our arms turned to noodles.
It was tough training, and we had to eat a lot and sleep early to keep up, but it was rewarding. Our abilities increased, my sight even better than ever!

Today, we started sword training, me and Tanjiro being given two simple katanas to work with.
It was fascinating to hear Mr. Urokodaki explain it all to us, every word being new and useful knowledge.
Well...
Except maybe the fact he said he would break every single bone in our body if we ever broke a single sword...

Day by day, our sword training was different, and I watched as Tanjiro fell down again and again, practicing how to get up quickly.
When it was my turn... I got plenty of scolding...
"Stop dodging! Just because you're light on your feet doesn't mean you shouldn't know this!"
Mr. Urokodaki yelled at me, pulling me back and forth by my shoulders multiple times.
No matter how much I apologized and tried my best, I would still end up making him upset by jumping away each time he tried to strike, and he eventually stopped trying as there didn't really seem to be a way to unteach my reflexes.
I still got scoldings, even at home, but I laughed it off with Tanjiro. It was wonderful having him and Nezuko by my side.
They filled in the little void I had made in myself when I chose to run away, and I couldn't be more grateful.
Whenever we had any spare time, which wasn't often, I'd go with Tanjiro to watch him practice waterbending by a small pond.
He was messy and we got splashed plenty of times at first, but he did start improving with time.
Although I wouldn't admit it, the only reason I insisted on joining him was to learn myself, waiting until he would leave so I could try to replicate his movements, using whatever I would see Ame do too.
