Introspection (Contest Entry)

Who am I?  you ask; I do not know.
I am a shattered-glass kaleidoscope
For fleeting moments into pictures fall,
A million swirling pieces, never still.
I am a patchwork quilt, a worn collection
Of memories and fantasies and warped reflection.
I am an emptiness, a void defined
By who I was, or loved, or left behind.
A phantom mist; a ghost in constant flux
I can't define myself by change
I'm just not real enough.

I am a thousand futures
A single frightened mind -

A fraction of the universe
That dreamt of life.

A/N: I am on a contest-entering spree, that's what! also you can blame the English Lit selected works for the fact that all my poems sound ridiculously formal, I dropped the subject a couple of years ago because all the stories are too darn sad but I read the poetry anthology to ✨inspire✨ myself (emojis used sarcastically).

Anyway, this is my entry to the Weekly Poetry Contests 2020 by @seowonkim !
