"I'm sorry." I rushed out the front door luggage in hand and guitar slung over my shoulders. Tears were flowing down and I could barely see where I was going. Everything was blurry, blocked by my continuous tears.
*Flashback*
"What is wrong with you! You failed middle school, you are failing high school, and now you fail to do simple household chores! You are stupid, dumb and useless!"
"Sorry."
"Saying sorry doesn't change anything! Why can't you just be more like you brother! You're such a failure!"
Mum's yelling at me. Again. Gosh why can't I just do anything right. My family is so perfect. My parents are successful entrepreneurs with their own company, my brother is a genius who graduated high school early and earned a scholarship to Cambridge and is currently studying medicine. Yet here I am, the dumb one of the family who can't get anything right.
I guess that's it. Just like my mum said, I'm going to grow up a failure. A useless person who can't do anything. I grab my guitar off its stand and started playing.
Feel like we're on the edge right now
I wish I could say I'm proud
I'm sorry that I let you down
All these voices in my head get loud
I wish that I could shut them out
I'm sorry that I let you down
Oh, let you down
I'm sorry
I'm so sorry now
I'm sorry
That I let you down
Tears were rolling down my cheeks. Suddenly, there was three quick knocks on my door and the door slammed open. I quickly wipe my tears off with the sleeve of my hoodie and looked up to see who it was.
Mum stood in front of me, a look of pure anger on her face. "The school just called me. They said you were failing calculus. If you don't buck up, I'm going to kick you out of this house. No failure deserves to live for free under my roof." I felt a sharp sting on my left cheek and before I could react, she stomped out of my room and slammed the door.
I sat on the floor my cheek stung like hell, but that was nothing compared to what I felt inside.
This is it. I can't stand it anymore. All she ever does is ask more of me. Why can't she just accept me for who I am? I'm her daughter. Her own blood. Why couldn't she treat me like hers? I shouldn't be the one feeling bad and horrible for letting her down. She is the one who should be bringing down her expectations so I don't disappoint her. She finally broke me.
*End Flashback*
