Solitude

When shadows and high spirits fall
There you will find me;
Dancing in an empty hall
Where silence binds me.

From far-off corners echoes sing
Our voices taunt us;
By isolation twisted, haunting,
Lonely chorus.

Reflections dance through splintered glass
The pieces scattered;
Promises in razor shards
By my hand shattered.

Paint peeling, mirrorless walls bare,
Decay advancing;
To silent song, in ancient air
The girl still dancing.
