Mother Knows Best

"After I heal you guys we need to go out and get your staff. I'm so sorry I let you go out there alone you two," she apologized.

"I forgive you, Miss Eda, I thought she would be tamer when I had someone else around," I replied. Eda smiled and she brought over two viles of burn relief.

"This will sting a bit you two, but it should heal it completely in an hour. You just need to pour it on the burn," she explained as she handed us the vials.

"Thank you, Eda," we said in unison. The vile had a green liquid that oozed when I tilted it towards my burn. I hissed a bit when the stinging sensation occurred, but it quickly started to feel better.

"Hey, Eda do you think it will be safe for us to go to school on Monday?" Luzy asked.

"It will be once you receive your staff. Also, I will talk to Bump to explain your situation. I'm sure I can match your schedules, so you can be in the same classes.

"Where do we get our staffs, Eda?" Luzy asked.

"We will get your staffs at The Knee where you can find the resource to create your own familiar and staff," she explained.

"Alright, I will go get some warmer clothes on then. You coming, Ami?" Luzy replied. I nodded while following her up to her room. I put on a jacket I packed as well as a beanie. Luzy had the coat on from when we first met up at the Knee. We walked downstairs to see Eda all dressed up in her winter gear.

"You guys ready to get going?" she asked.

"Yep, we are all set," Luzy replied. Eda smiled and we all got on her staff and soared to the Knee. This time we landed in a different part and the trees were lined with many different colored auras.

"So, to pick out a staff you must touch the trees. If it gives off heat to your touch then it is the tree you will carve your palaceman out of," Eda explained. She handed us each an axe and she gave us a thumbs up.

"Thank you, Eda," we thanked while walking towards the trees.

"So, what tree do you think your palaceman will come out of?" I asked.

"Hmm. I don't know. I like the one with the gold aura though because it reminds me of your eyes," she replied which caused me to blush.

"Well, I like the one with the purple like the one on the cat shirt you always wear," I replied which caused her to blush in return. I touched the tree with a green tint in front of me and I was relieved that it was freezing to the touch. Luzy touched it as well and she felt the cold as well. Finally, I made it to the purple one and it started to burn my hand. Suddenly, I blacked out into the snow which caused Luzy to panic. In a dream-like trance, I noticed a small dragon putting its nose to my face, and I woke up panting to see I was in Luzy's arms.

"Are you okay?" she asked with concern written all over her face.

"I'm fine, I just had a trance and I saw a dragon," I explained.

"Kid, that is your palaceman. It is now safe to cut off a decent portion of the tree to craft your staff," Eda explained. I walked over to the tree and I started to chop off a large branch. Weirdly, like before it felt like something took over my body and I started to craft my staff to the identical details of the dragon I saw before. It happened within minutes which completely shocked me and I had control again. At the corner of my eye, I saw Luzy collapse by the tree with the golden glow. I ran over to where she had fallen and I held her in my arms. Slowly, consciousness started to appear within Luzy.

"Are you okay? What did you see?" I asked.

"I saw a Pheonix," she replied.

"That is awesome," I claimed while giving Luzy a hug.

"Thank you," she replied while walking back to the tree with an ax. Like me, she quickly crafted her staff within minutes and she walked over to me with the golden staff with a tiny phoenix on top.

"Good job you two!" Eda complemented while giving us a high five.

"Thank you, Eda," we replied. She gave us a grin.

"Today will also be your first flight with your palaceman," Eda claimed. I have never flown a staff before and my nerves spiked a little. I pulled my staff in front of me and the dragon attached to the end like Owlbert did with his wings out and it levitated in the air. Luzy's phoenix did the same and we both got on our staff.

"Good luck Ami," Luzy cheered.

"Good luck to you too Luzy," I replied trying to stop my nerves from taking over while holding on. My staff zoomed through the sky along with Luz's and I held on for my life.

"Relax a little," Luzy claimed noticing the panic in my face.

"I'll try love," I replied as we made it closer to the owl house. It was oddly relaxing to fly through the air when I got used to it. Then we made it to the owl house.
