Flynn looked at the glass in his hand that he had been absent-mindedly washing for the past few minutes and sighed. He placed the glass in a bin under the bar and looked at his watch. It was one AM already?! He walked out from beneath the bar and over to the microphone.
"Attention everyone! I appreciate your patronage but the club will be closing early tonight. Gather your belongings and finish your drinks, then head for the exits." Flynn said into the microphone.
As he spoke he noticed the front door open for a brief moment. A faintly familiar scent caught his nose. The scent was familiar but he couldn't quite place where, or perhaps when he had first known it.
All around the club patrons were gathering their jackets and other belongings as they began making their way to the exit. Flynn looked around to see if he could find the direction of the scent. It was however to no avail, as the last of the patrons left he couldn't find the source.
Flynn sighed to himself as locked the door to the club and turned off the window signs. He began gathering glasses to be washed and took them to the back. After a while of cleaning up, Flynn decided to begin his walk home. He only lived a couple of blocks from the club so it wasn't uncommon for him to walk home most nights.
As he got closer to his flat he noticed a presence behind him. He ignored it at first, but when he was yards away from the door that led to his flat, he stopped. He was in that moment certain things: the person following him was a werewolf, like himself and they were female. The scent was the same he smelled but briefly in the club.
"Who is there? State your name and your purpose" Flynn said, reaching into his vest for a silver-bladed dagger he had carried with him for the past decade.
The person following him stopped dead in their tracks upon hearing themselves being addressed and seeing him reach for something. She finally decided to speak. "My name is Alicia Hanover, and I am sorry to bother you. I am searching for someone and was hoping maybe you knew where to find them"
Flynn hearing those words clutched the dagger in his hand and took a deep breath. Alicia Hanover was the daughter of the Alpha couple of the Hanover pack, and the woman he was engaged to before everything fell apart. "Who are you looking for? You certainly have found somebody, I may be willing to help if I can. If I can't I suggest you turn around and stop following me."
Alicia blinked for a moment, stunned at what the man in front of her just said. She then took a deep breath and spoke. "I'm looking for a man named Flynn Moonscar, I have been searching for him." Something felt odd to hear about the man in front of her. Then it dawned on her...he had no scent! Werewolves and humans, as well as other living creatures, had their distinct scents but this man had none.
Flynn considered her words for a moment. He was still grasping the dagger he kept concealed and closed his eyes. "You can stop looking for him. He is dead. There is no Flynn Moonscar. He died ten years ago and I am the one who killed him."
Alicia was stunned by the words coming from the man and then shook her head. "That can't be right, the moon bond I share with him would've told me if he had perished and the very fact that it's not causing me immense pain means he must be in Greyhaven somewhere."
Flynn slowly turned around to face Alicia, partially curious if it was her. There was no mistaking who she was in his mind the moment he saw her. The curly black hair, flawless skin, and crystal blue eyes on the woman behind him left no room for doubt. "Go home Alicia, the one you're looking for isn't here. And tell Gregory Moonscar that his son is dead, I doubt he'll care much though." Flynn however couldn't help but admire how beautiful she still was after all these years in his mind.
