The Dragon Whispers

The beginning

The king stood infront of the his castle eyes wide with shock and terror as he watched the army of an enemy kingdom walked in with as many as 15 dragons at their side he knew he only had one option. He ran out and saddled his horse faster than he had ever before and ran to go find the only person who could save his kingdom. he rode on horseback to go find Nia a myth among his people as it is said she once conquered an entire army of dragons and wyverns single-handedly with noting but her words. He arrived to the place where she was supposed to live and he found noting but a waterfall a beautiful one at that with its blue cascading waters and the majestic plants that surrounded it in almost unnatural way, when suddenly a large gust of wind and large roaring broke his train of thought and he looked up seeing a most beautiful dragon that had dark maroon scales and large wings that could carry an entire village on its back with ease. He was in awe when the dragon took off towards his kingdom with speed that was faster than most horses. He followed and when he finally arrived he saw a young girl maybe 16 or 17 getting off the dragon in such a way that made it look like she had down it a million times and the moment she stepped down the dragons seemed to calm and relax and thr closer she got the more relaxed and calm they got. she soon arrived at the beasts who were almost asleep at this point and what happened next was incredible, as she touched each of them they flew up and bucked off their previous rider obeying everything the small girl said until the entire fleet was in the air an flying back towards the waterfall. The army who was now weak surrendered with little fight and the kingdom cheered. "Now everyday we celebrate November 9th as a day honoring the magical girl who saved our kingdom" the king finished explaining to his children "thats incredible dad but did you ever get to meet her" the smallest asked and king chuckled "no but what i would do to meet her you kids have no idea now off to bed or your mother will have my head" the kids laughed and as the king tucked them in he thought about the girl and wonder if she was still alive.

Nia woke up and hit her head on the low ceiling of her small cabin "ow what the-" memories of last night filled her mind and she rubbed her head "God damnit i got drunk again" a small rather annoyed voice spoke "yes and Felix had to go get you again" she looked over and saw her only semi human friend Oliver "heh sorry" she chuckled and went to go get something for her headache "you should probably stop getting flat out drunk the day before everyone in the kingdom celebrates you" Nia swallowed a potion she used whenever she had a hangover and fixed her short messy brown hair "it's fine besides its not like I have to be there" Oliver sighed and smacked his forehead "no but you still have dragons that have to be trained and unicorns that need healing" Mia sighed as she knew the Elf was right "fine fine I'll get to it" he scoffed and went upstairs to get changed while Nia went outside her head still hurting. The sun was still rising and she assumed that none of her animals were up yet so she went and washed her face in the river and suddenly out of no where she went flying into the river, catching herself on a low hanging tree branch. She sighed knowing it was the youngest of her griffin's a small light brown one that went by Titan "good morning Titan" happy chirps escaped the creature and he danced around his owner who had managed to get unstuck from the branch and was now petting him. Nia knew that once titan was up everyone else would soon get up so she went and grabbed her food bag and went out on Titan to hunt for more deer and other animals to feed her growing collection of mystical beasts. They wandered around for a bit catching rabbits and such but not enough to feed everyone until a rustle grabbed her attention "who-" she walked closer to it until out off no where a knife shot out of the bush and stayed put by her throat "state your business here" a rather small voiced squeaked, Nia a bit taken back replied "I'm out hunting with my Griffin" the small voice seemed to approve and after moving the knife away the voice emerged from the bush only to be a rather tall fellow with lanky limbs and long red hair with freckles spotted everywhere "I'm Berry sorry to scare you but there are hunters out here looking for people like me" Nia nodded "people like you?" Berry shot her head up and looked down at her "so you mean you don't know about the hunting reward?" Nia now even more confused looked at her "well essentially any one who's a hybrid gets hunted and slaughtered for a reward, apparently we carry some kind of weird gene that the king doesn't like" Berry looked down at her shoes once more "well if that's the case you can come with us back to our home" Berry looked up in awe "actually?" She said in pure joy and relieve, Nia nodded and patted for her to get on behind her on Titan and they rode back to the cabin were they found a very angry Oliver and a very hungry pack of griffins and baby dragons "what took you so long and why is there a hybrid with you?" He tapped his foot angrily a habit he picked up from the unicorns "well you see I found Berry and she was getting hunted and she almost killed me so I took her in because again the whole being hunted thing and titan couldn't find much food"  Oliver sighed "fine I'll give her the oath the disguise just come with me" berry stepped down and followed him inside of the cabin. Nia meanwhile went around and feed everyone except for Felix who had eaten a night prior. Now she had to go feed the unicorns and they were a picky a bunch hating the smell or even mention of meat and but despite that she still had to take care of them on Olivers orders "alright im here now please dont hit me-" as she said that a her face collided with an angry mother unicorn who was very hungry. Nia groaned and rubbed her face a bruise already forming "here" she sighed tired and her cheek hurting she tossed a bag of grain and hay towards them and they all went to go eat and as she turned around a scream stole her attention.
