After encountering a peculiar boy and his demon sister, they jo...
"Where's Ame? Is he okay?! Did he hurt anyone?!" I pray he didn't do anything, please, please, please...
Kana seemed even more worried, her eyebrows furrowed at my words, her grip slightly tightening on my shoulders.
"Y/N, did something happen to your brother? Is that why you ran here?"
I quickly nod, tears already flooding to me as words barely even seemed to form in my mind, let alone come out as properly formed words. All I did was stutter in a panic.
"What happened?"
I breathe heavily, starting to recall the events that had pushed me to where I was now. Tears pooling in my eyes.

It was late in the evening, and I had just come home from town. I still needed to work to earn money to keep me and my brother alive, so small jobs for the townspeople had to do. I didn't mind, everyone was nice and they treated and paid me fairly.
It was never much, but saving up was always good for darker days.
I gently open the door, humming as I took off my boots before locking the door, setting down the bag on the table.
"Ame~! I got you more of that onigiri you like!" I called out, and was met with eerie silence.
It was dead silent, but... something in me told me to be on the lookout. This didn't feel right.
The air was thick and suffocating, and the knocked over flower pot making me even more suspicious. And... Wait... Was it always this dark in our house or am I imagining things?
"...Ame?" I call out, only to get no response. At this point, I start to worry, hoping he's just asleep and can't hear me.
I call his name a few times more, and with each silent answer I feel panic begin to grow inside me.
Checking every room of the house, fear overcomes me and I begin to slam doors open, checking anywhere and everywhere Icould.
My room came last, and I heard slight shuffling and breathing inside. Relieved, I opened the door.
"Ame, are you sleep-" My eyes widen in shock at what I'm met with.
Blood.
So, so much blood.
Everything was messed up. Clothes strewn about, broken shards of pottery and torn fabric spread on my floor. I felt my stomach turning upside down at both the sight and scent, which was absolutely unbearable.
The smell of rotting flesh and iron pierced my lungs, and I almost threw up right then and there.
Yet, innocently sitting in the middle, was Ame. His hands were thickly coated in the liquid, humming.
I reach my hand out but stop. Upon closer inspection, my eyes see the balls of blood floating, further terrifying me is the fact that Ame is the one controlling them.
He... he's a bloodbender...?
With fear in my voice, I call his name weakly. "A-Ame...?"
The moment his head turned my entire world stopped, feeling like a knife piercing my heart, the pain feeling unbearable.
His once delicate and soft eyes were now sharp and terrifying, the whites of his eyes now blood-red, eyebrows furrowed and a cruel growl on his lips.
A strange marking was seemingly burned into his eye, replacing his pupil entirely. "Lower Rank Four"? What... What did that mean?
Veins popped on his skin, which had become deadly pale, a few thin cuts spread over his cheeks, blood spread and dripping from his mouth.
The most heartbreaking sight was the deep, pouring gash in the back of his neck, the veins around it dark and pulsating. He suffered... He must've suffered so much...

"A-AME?!!" I scream, tears in my eyes as I see the sharp nails and teeth.
My eyes witnessed the sight, but my mind refuses to dare believe or accept this. I had to be dreaming. I had to be... There's no other answer. There isn't another answer-
