She was still thinking about Demilade when sleep take over and she doze off.

Demilade returned around past twelve in the night. He had taken his friends and his top workers and directors to his private club uptown to celebrate the contract they just won and the success of the government approval in Japan. A major call for celebration.
He spent time with his friends who can't stop praising him for how far he had gone in his business line. Now he was moving to Asia.
He can't help but feel proud as they praise and commend him.
Eleven years ago, he was accepted into their circle of friends because he has pride, he was hard working and they knew he had a future with how hard he worked. And also because Bayo liked him. He was not born rich like any of them. He was not taken to the best school but he walked his way up on his own. And he had come to become greater than them in everything.
Deborah didn't come to take his bag like always and it was then it dawned on him that she wasn't home. He didn't even call her to know if she had gotten to Ibadan. He promised to do that first thing in the morning.
Deborah was not just his house help. She is like a family friend. She is the cousin of a woman who had helped his family a lot when he was little. She gave them food and money when things were so hard. He can never count how many times that woman had given him food on the days his mother couldn't find any money for them to eat. She once bought a new school uniform for him when his uniforms were old and torn.
Nothing will ever make him forget the woman. But she returned to her home state in Ibadan when he entered the university and he lost contact with her after that time until seven years ago.
He met her last daughter. A girl that was younger than him by two years. And he got back in contact with her. Five years ago, she called him and requested a favour. She wanted him to find her cousin's job in the city. Debbie was one of them. And then he needed house help.
Deborah's sister was given a job as a receptionist and he helped send her back to school. Her brother who had an HND was made the manager of his warehouse in Ogun state. But Deborah didn't want to go back to school and she wanted to work. She agreed to be his house help and he paid her well for her service. He also helped in giving her vocational training in catering but she enjoyed working for him and he doesn't have a problem with her since she knows him well and so does he.
He dropped his bag and pulled his suit and lose his tie. He was tired. The light of the dining room turned on when he stepped into the large room. His food was set on the table. A smile tugged up his face when he saw how Lola had packed his dish. It was wonderful that she could think of preparing food for him after what happened between them. He was glad that she had truly forgiven him unless she won't have done it.
He admired it. Her ability to forgive easily. He doesn't have that. Not one bit.
But he wasn't hungry. He was filled. He had drunk enough and eaten enough at the club. He would heat the food the next day and eat it. So he walked to the dining and took the plates and the cooler back to the kitchen. He left only the wine cup and he brought out a wine he put in the refrigerator the other day. He had planned to celebrate his victory in his house. So he brought it out and took it to the dining.
He went up to his room after taking his briefcase and suit jacket. He took a bath and change into a nightie. He picked up his IPad and some necessary documents and he head downstairs.
He still has work to do. It was not time to sleep. So he went to the dining room. He was supposed to go to his private office but he just feel like he want a change of environment for his work. And everywhere in the house was quiet so he could work anywhere without disturbance.
He looked at the hallway that lead to Lola's room for a while. He knows she will be deep in her sleep right now. He feels like seeing her sleeping face. He remembered the first time he saw her sleeping on the armchair in the living room. He felt something shift in him and he admire her, noticing how pretty she was.
He shakes away the thought and focuses on the work he has to complete in two days.
And he went to the dining room. He prepared everything he need on the table. He turned on his laptop and opened his wine, pour in his glass to sip from it. He then turned off the light and began with the work he had.

Lola shifted awake and she felt pressed and thirsty. It wasn't new. She always wakes up at night to excrete and drink water. She climbed down from the big bed and went to the adjoined bathroom and release her waste. She come back to the room yawning and she went to the top of her drawer where she kept her cup and bottle of water but the water was finished. She groaned and frowned. She had forgotten to take a new bottle of water from the refrigerator before coming back to her room. And she felt thirsty and she won't be able to sleep if she didn't drink to hydrate herself.
She reluctantly leave the room and pulled her leg tiredly on the marble floor to the hallway and down the staircase which lit her way due to the beautiful small light in the middle of the stairs which was on. She had been shocked the first time she saw them and she had been amazed but now she just admired them as she climb down the stairs.
She didn't look up as she walked quietly in the dark since she had already known the way into the house. But the light in the dining room turned on immediately she step on the mat that trigger the light. And heart almost leaves her chest at the sight in front of her.
