As Jaxon exited the building, he passed Officer Davis on the way out.

"Hey!" He said.

"Hi Officer Davis." Jaxon said looking back at Officer Davis as he was running. "Guess what? I'm leaving town today, isn't that nice? Okay bye!" Jaxon made a beeline to the nearest far-enough alleyway.

When he finally reached it, he sat down and thought about what happened in the library. That voice in the back of his mind that persuaded him definitely wasn't his. So who did it belong to?

He took out his right hand and looked at it again. It still looked as normal as all the other times, which was to say not normal at all. It's never done that before; it's never done really anything except just be there.

"Stupid hand." He muttered to himself as he shoved it back in his pocket.

Jaxon stayed there fora solid few minutes, contemplating what he'd done. When the hand reached out and choked the kid, it felt like he wasn't fully in control, like trapping an animal then suddenly releasing it. That voice in the back of his head might have something to do with it. He might've cried. He never wanted anything like this, he just wanted a normal life like anyone else's but he can't even remember his past life.

He paused, something was wrong. Shouldn't there have been sirens by now, he hadn't run that far from the library, had he?

He risked walking to the end of the alleyway and looking outside, but he saw no red and blue lights, heard no sirens and saw no police cars, come to think of it there were no cars at all.

"That's strange." He thought to himself.

He looked again and saw multiple signs placed at the end of the road that said "ROAD AHEAD UNDER MAINTENANCE".

He could've sworn those were not there before. When he got to the alleyway, the street was full of cars.

He looked at one of the clocks in the stores on the other side of the road. It read 10:43 A.M. He got to the library at somewhere around 10:20 A.M. It really hadn't been that long.

Police or no police he was going to get out of here as fast as he could. He had to get back to the alleyway he was in before, he had left his only bag there. A blue and green backpack with some food in it. He was about to get out of the alleyway when suddenly a big semi-truck parked in front of him.

Out of it came two construction workers, but they didn't seem to be interested in construction right now. On each of their belts hung a taser and a pistol. Jaxon was pretty sure they weren't going to use those to shoot the road and force it to cooperate.

They looked around the street and then spotted Jaxon in the alleyway.

"Great. Just great." Jaxon muttered to himself.

The "construction workers" approached him.

"Hey kid." The one on the left said.

"Oh hey, hi, nice to meet you." Jaxon said trying to sound normal. "I'm gonna go now, bye."

He tried to get out but they blocked his path.

"Excuse me?" Jaxon said trying to sound annoyed.

"Look, we're here to bring you in okay?" The one on the right said. "Just come with us, we were requested to bring you in unhurt."

"Okay yeah." Jaxon said sarcastically "I always listen to armed strangers who are telling me to get in the back of their truck."

"You aren't normal."

"Shocking." Jaxon said. "What else?"

"Nothing else. Nothing we're supposed to say."

"Just get in the back now." The left one said.

"Okay, okay." Jaxon said "Let me just get-."

Jaxon stared at them eyes wide. Pointing behind them, he shouted with as much fear as he could.

"WHAT'S THAT?!"

They fell for it.

Jaxon ran out pushing them out of the way.

"Hey, kid! Come back!" One of them said as they were getting up.

Jaxon kept running. "How about no?"

He had almost reached the corner and before he could react a third one came from around it carrying a wooden blunt weapon that looked suspiciously like a bat.

"Oh sh-." He was cut short by the fact that he was knocked unconscious.
