That, and you knew that if you messed up, she would make you balance on the very tip of your staff, sometimes if you got unlucky, she would smack the back your head, her strikes heavy as she would scold you.

Yet, you were thankful she chose to train you once your mother brought you to her, excited to have someone to continue spreading the knowledge, skill and art of airbending to.

You trained hard every day, giving it your all to make her proud. Often times you came home and as soon as your body touched your mattress, you'd wake up next afternoon.

Sometimes you didn't feel like doing physical training, to which Kana would take you to strengthen your spiritual connection via meditation.

Today, she seemed even more pleased with your bending. Over time, it grew fluid and elegant, your own body moving not like the wind, but as one with the wind. Any breeze you felt you could control, and your eyesight developed exponentially.

You used your staff and landed a strong blow on the boulder before you, cracking it halfway.

Clapping caught your attention, the proud smile on your master's face making you smile as you felt happy with the progress you made.

It didn't matter how much your muscles ached from training, or how much you sweat and feel like passing out; knowing that at the end of the day, you made your master, and hopefully your parents, proud gave you the energy to push yourself further daily.

You smiled and wiped the sweat off your brow, proud.
"I did great, right?"

A pair of arms tightly wrap around you, surprising you. You don't wait longer than you need to and return the embrace.

"I... I am so proud of you, Y/N. You are my best student. And seeing your improvements every day brings so much joy to my heart. I'm sure your mother would be proud of what a wonderful daughter she has."

You gasped, eyes widening at the words Kana-Sama spoke, the praise filling your heart with joy. The only time she ever really spoke was to yell at you for messing up.

"K-Kana-Sama..."
You sniffled, a few tears slipping past your eyes and into her shoulder.
The joy you felt was immense, and your body shook with excitement.

"Thank you! Thank you so much! I-I promise I'll make you even prouder! I won't let you down, Kana-Sama!"
You loudly exclaim, full to the brim with energy.

"I know you will. You're free to go home now. You've worked very hard today."
She patted your shoulder before going inside, leaving you alone on the field.

You couldn't stop the giggles that erupted from your throat, running around with your staff, yelling with pure adrenaline, wiping your joyful tears.

"Haha!! I-I! I did it! I did it!! I made Kana-Sama proud!"

You take a deep breath before yelling even louder.
"LOOK OUT WORLD! YOU'VE GOT A NEW AIRBENDING MASTER COMING AFTER YOU! WHOO!!"
With your bending, you ran around, jumping high up and landing softly, giggling like a little child.

Your lungs were wasted from yelling and running, but you couldn't be giddier.
Even on the way back home, your excitement wouldn't stop as you cheerfully told Ame about your day.

The boy had just woken up from a long nap, and although he was a little confused about what you were rambling about, your happiness made him feel happy too.

He never told you, but he looked up to you with such admiration. His older sister was the best, after all.

She was strong, optimistic, hard-working and determined, never scared of anyone or anything, and always so full of life.

When he grew up, he wanted to be just like you. Big, brave and talented.

He could never understand how you managed so well. You had time for everything it seemed.

You worked, you trained, you went shopping for food for him, always made sure he was fed before you even touched your bowl, always slept with him when he was scared, singing him lullabies.

Everything you did and said was holy to him, and he was proud to call you his only living family.

Once home, your adrenaline wore off, leaving you tired, but even so, you had to make dinner for Ame.

You carefully prepared his favorite meal, humming a melody as you did so.
Setting down bowls before the two of you, Ame began to stuff his face, making you smile and ruffle his hair.

"Don't eat so fast, you might choke."
You wipe the corners of his mouth, yawning as you cleaned the dishes, having already carried Ame to bed.

Once all your house duties were finished, you checked the doors and windows, giving Ame a second goodnight kiss on his forehead before heading to your bed.

You threw yourself on the soft mattress, your body instantly relaxing before everything around you fades, sleep completely overtaking you.
A sense of peace and accomplishment comforted you like a soft pat on the shoulder.
