(A/N: Hi loyal readers! I'm lacking some inspiration and suffering some minor writer's block, so I'm gonna write a little fluff/filler for ya. Enjoy!)

Solara's POV:

Beebeepbeepbeep! Beebeebeebeep! Solara's bedside alarm went off, jolting her awake. Groggily, she rubbed her eyes and stopped the alarm clock. Groaning, she slipped into an oversize blush pink sweatshirt, some black shorts, and white thigh high socks.

She checked the time. 7:30. Usually the rest of the legends were up at 8 or 9 on weekends. After brushing her hair and teeth, she grabbed a box of mix and walked out into the empty hallway, reaching the also empty living room/kitchen they all shared. She looked around for anyone. No one. Carefully, she pulled a grey apron she made herself out of the pocket of her sweatshirt and put it on. She went to the fridge and dug out some cream cheese and eggs, then turned to the cabinets and pulled out vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon. Careful not to make any noise, she dumped the contents of the box into the bowl, then added the eggs, cinnamon, and a cup of water.

Crypto's POV:

Crypto walked out of his room and down the hall. Though he had been up for hours, he was still sleepy. He needed some coffee. The farther he walked down the corridor, the more he smelled something. Like pastries. Curious, he sped up and reached the common room. Standing in the kitchen on her phone was the new girl. His eyes flicked to the rest of the kitchen, where the oven was lit up and the counter was strewn with baking utensils and an empty box of cake mix. He was about to duck back into the hallway and wait until she was done, but her head snapped up and she stared directly at him. Eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

"Morning." She said quickly, and looked back down at her phone again, not wanting a reply. Crypto, sensing this, quietly walked into the kitchen and made his coffee. He wished she would say something. Why would she? There's nothing to say. He was a jerk, and apparently, she's fine with countering that with whatever this attitude was. His coffee was done.

Solara's POV:

Solara kept staring down at her phone, waiting for Crypto to leave. He didn't. He grabbed his coffee and sat down at the bar, about 2 seats distance from her, awkwardly sipping his coffee and messing around with Hack, occasionally stealing glances at her. Ding!

Solara set down her phone too quickly, making a banging sound. She hissed and stayed still to make sure none of the sleeping legends were awoken by the loud sound. Nothing. She exhaled and pulled on some oven mitts, opened the oven and reached in.

"Shit!" She hissed. Crypto's head snapped in her direction. She was sucking on a wound on her forearm. She burned herself reaching in the oven.

3rd person POV:

"Let me." Crypto said, standing up.

"No. I'm fine." She huffed, putting her hands back in the oven, immediately retracting them again, cursing. She threw down the oven mitts and Turned away, her arms folded stubbornly over her chest. Crypto gave a tentative smile and grabbed the oven mitts. sliding them on, and reaching in the oven to pull out a fluffy red velvet cake. He put the tray on a stand on the counter and slid off the mitts.

"Shouldn't you be resisted to heat, given... Your abilities?" He asked. She shrugged. "Hammond forgot something, I guess." She lied, signalling the end of that conversation thread. In reality, she'd escaped the underground lab where they operated on her. She could be resistant to fire, but she can be burned by hot metal. 'Small price to pay for my freedom', she thought bitterly.

"Looks good." He offered. She sighed. "Thanks." He went back to his seat as she took out a seperate bowl and dumped some cream cheese and sugar in it.

"What are you doing?" He asked, on the verge of a laugh. Cream cheese and sugar? Gross. Solara glared at him jokingly.

"I'm making cream cheese frosting."

"Gross." Crypto crinkled his nose. Solara looked at him like he was insane.

"What? Have you ever even tried it?" He thought for a moment.

"Nope." He said eventually. Solara scoffed and kept stirring the stuff.

"Hold on." She said. About 2 minutes later, she had some of the frosting on a spoon and carried it over to him. He raised his eyebrows at her, making a face that he hoped said I really don't want to try this, but you're never gonna take no for an answer, are you? She just stared back with a nope, it's either try it, or perish look. He took the spoon, making sure he displayed disgust as he took a little bit on his finger and tasted it. It was actually pretty good, but he didn't want to admit easy defeat. He shrugged, earning a scoff and then a laugh from her. Her laugh was pretty. "You like it, admit it."

"Daijōbu. It's okay."

"Mm-hmm." She made that sound with a small neck movement from side to side. Crypto smirked and turned back to Hack. Solara went about her business, scraping most of the frosting into a bag. With her teeth, she tore the corner off of it, attatched a small metal thing, and proceeded to cover the cake with it. She pulled a flat metal utensil out of her apron and spread the frosting all around the cake, spinning the platform to get every angle of the cake.

After it was done, she turned to the remaining icing, poured a few drops of red food dye, mixing it until it was dark red. Pressing a flat nozzle on the bag, she carefully made little roses on the cake, then sprinkled them with clear crystalline sprinkles, and finally dropped a few decorative strawberries on it. Satisfied, she stepped back and started to clear the counter, putting everything back in its proper place, and washing whatever dishes that needed to be washed. Crypto finished repairing Hack and flew him around for a test drive. He flew Hack around the room. Just then, Solara grabbed Hack and carried the drone back to Crypto. She tutted.

Solara's POV:

"uh-uh. That thing is so loud. It'll wake everyone up." She whisper-yelled. Crypto rolled his eyes at her as he put Hack away. She stuck her tongue out at him and turned back to the counter, grabbing the cake and starting towards her room. Crypto followed.

"Why are you bringing it to your room?". He was being rather nice today. She thought. Weird. Without turning around or talking, she opened her bedroom door and walked inside. Crypto stayed at the doorway. She opened her closet and separated the clothes to reveal an orange mini fridge, stocked with water and energy drinks, and some snacks. She cleared the top row and set the cake inside. Only then did she turn around and reply.

"Saving it until after dinner 2 days from now so we can all eat it together. It's my birthday. I turn 29 at exactly 9:18." Crypto's eyes widened. She was 28? She seemed like no age applied to her. Like you wouldn't know at first glance if she was 20 or 30.

"O-Oh. Happy- er- early birthday, then." He said quickly.

"Thanks!" She replied. Just then, Dr. Caustic walked down the hall, silently eyeing the two as he passed. Solara felt cold around him. Sort of rare, given everything. A few moments later, Anita, Ajay, Octavio, and Makoa exited their rooms and walked into the kitchen, mumbling 'good mornings' as they passed.

Crypto's POV:

Crypto was going to walk back into the kitchen, expecting Solara to follow, but she went the other way, towards firing range.

"You're not going to eat breakfast?" He asked.

"Not hungry. Maybe a little later." She said with a small smile and wave. She turned around and disappeared behind the door leading to firing range. Crypto heard one more door bang closed as he stared after her, and turned around to see the old man raising teasing eyebrows at him and smirking like an idiot, implying he knew exactly what Crypto thought of Solara. Crypto's gaze immediately hardened and he shoved past him.

"Damare."

(A/N: I know this was kinda filler, but at least its not TOTAL filler. Who knows what's gonna happen on Solara's b-day celebration?)
