He looked at you for a few moments, and then asked, "Mind if I join?"

His words made your heart leap to your throat.

"Of course, not!"

And that was the start to a new friendship, one that you hoped would lift you out of the sorrow of losing your brother while you stayed there.

Jin's POV

It had been exactly two months since she'd agreed to let him join her for breakfast. Was he happy? No. He was ecstatic. Every morning, you would have breakfast together. The first few days, you'd been going to the pancake shop, until Jin told you that he could much better pancakes, and the two of you had started eating at his place. Over the days, breakfast had turned to two meals at his place, and in a month, dinner was added. Now, he met you almost every single day, whether he was busy with work or not. The only thing that hadn't happened yet was the two of you moving in together, and he had the mind to make it happen soon. In fact, he planning to ask you to become his girlfriend that very day.

You'd taken over every inch of his brain, giving him a kind of happiness that completely out ruled the feeling of driving a knife into a person's body. Not that he'd lost touch with his favourite hobby, but that now, he'd found a new source of pleasure; you.

Of course, now and then, he did wonder how it would feel to push the blade of his knife into your skin and watch your face twist in pain as the blood dripped down into his hands. Those kinds of thoughts always came up whenever he saw you smile too brightly at another person or greet a neighbour with utmost happiness, but he chose to bury them for the sake of his reputation and smiled along with you.

You seemed to have an effect on him that he found very confusing, yet terribly appeasing. He was almost a hundred percent sure that you felt the same way about him, which always made him smile.

Walking along to your house, his mind was full of thoughts about you, your hair, your small face full of fleeting emotions, your animated expressions, cute pout when angry, everything. He was in too deep, and he didn't mind. He didn't know what to call the feeling he felt in his chest every time he thought of you, but whatever it was, he loved it.

His mind was made up. He was going to pop the question to you today, and then you'd move in with him, and he'd get to see every minute of every day.

The moment he reached in front of your gate, his heart started racing. There you stood, waiting for him, as usual. It had become a norm for the two of you to walk around the neighbourhood and visit the kids park nearby during his days off.

"Hey!" he heard you call out, and waved back.

"So, um....I don't think we'll be able to go the park today," you started saying.

Jin frowned.

"Why not?"

You looked down at your feet sheepishly.

"Someone's coming over to my place today."

You started walking and he stepped into pace with you, hands in his pocket.

"Who?"

"Um, just a guest."

He started raking his brain for answers. According to all the information he'd collected about you, only you and brother had been the surviving members of your family, and because he'd done away with your brother, it was only you.

"Family?" he asked nonchalantly.

"Yeah."

You were lying. He wondered what gave you a reason to have to lie to him. Did you not want him to know who this guest was? If it had just been a friend, wouldn't you have told him?
