I walked down the gloomy, dimly lit corridor to a set of silver steel doors with heavily armed guards on either side. The doors opened and I gasped at the sight that welcomed me.

Busy desks with high-tech computers were placed in lines across the large stone room. Along one side was a menacing weapons testing area shielded by bulletproof glass; large chestnut wardrobes full of disguises peaked through mysterious glass doors at the other side. Excitedly, I watched various doors lining the room swing open and closed; I guessed what they concealed. And at the centre of it all was a large screen displaying current missions. My mouth hung open like a venus fly trap. It was better than I could have ever imagined.

Not wanting to waste time, my guide hurried me down the ornate stairs and gave me a quick tour of everything my eyes had seen.

Then he led me through the commotion to a coffee-coloured door but before entering he turned to look me in the eye.

"This is the boss' room. No speaking unless spoken to and no questions. Understand?"

I nodded and nervously fixed my posture. This is what I have been working up to all day. If I can get this persons approval I could be closer to achieving a higher rank. I almost squealed in anxious excitement. My guide opened the door and stood behind it, making me go in alone.

The boss' room was beautiful. It was decorated with a faint fawn wallpaper and portraits of former mafia Kings and Queens lined the walls. Gold and green accents framed the room, it reminded me of a wood. Cottagecore. Nice.

Finally, I looked at the boss.

Holy mother of Mary. No one said the boss was a literal goddess. She was wearing a tight black suit and tie with her blonde hair slicked back in a high pony tail. Her makeup was simple yet effective. Dark, bold mascara with eyeliner and a touch of black eyeshadow framing her sapphire eyes. She was looking at me.

Suddenly, I was brought back to reality and stood up a little straighter as she chuckled darkly and walked closer.

"Like what you see?" she asked in amusement. I looked forward and put my hands behind my back, puffing out my chest and widening my stance.

She walked around me and continued talking, "You look professional but, you made a few mistakes. Allow me to talk them through with you." She traced my chin with her finger and I gulped but didn't meet her eyes as she continued.

"As soon as you walked in, you would rather study my walls than look at me politely. That was your first mistake. Your second was gawking at me as soon as you saw me. What? Did you expect a man?" she said the last part through gritted teeth and she grabbed my chin violently.

"N-no," I stuttered, "I just think you're very p-pretty ma'm." She roughly let go of my chin and walked away. I let go of a breath I didn't realise I was holding. I never realised someone could be so intimidating yet so beautiful. She suddenly turned to face me.

"Thank you for the compliment but I don't do relationships or flings," she held out her hand for me to shake and I took it.

"Welcome to the mafia" she smirked.
