The Unknown // Colby Brock

~~ Chapter Thirty ~~

And now, the devil stood on his side of the room wearing a completely black suit whilst the soon-to-be king of heaven stood on the other side wearing a completely white suit. They awaited their future queens patiently, God and his Goddess sitting between them both.

Finally, the announcer at the top of the stairs cleared his throat attracting everyone's attention. "Ahem. Presenting Katrina Stuart, future queen of heaven, accompanied by hell's second-in-command, Jake Webber." Katrina stepped out from the side with her arm linked in Jake's to show the peace between the two afterlives. She looked gorgeous to just about everybody in the room, but Sam's eyes had almost popped. He really did love the woman, and he'd waited long enough to have her by his side for eternity.

Once Katrina reached the bottom of the stairs, Jake bowed to her and goofily grinned. She seemed to smile before turning towards Sam. She walked to him while Jake circled to go to Colby and stand diagonally behind his king. Katrina immediately grabbed onto Sam's hand without an ounce of confidence left in her body. She felt slightly drained from all the eyes on her and the sparkling crown of Sam's that sat there waiting. Everything was ever so scary to her now.

"Presenting Arianna Black, future queen of hell, accompanied by heaven's head angel, Nathaniel." It was Arianna's turn to be in the spotlight. She thought that when she stepped out into the light of so many people that she would panic just like Katrina had, but when she did walk out from the side with her arm linked to Nathaniel's, she felt nothing but confidence, and a lot of it. She showed it in her strides as she just barely picked up her dress to walk down the stairs.

What she hadn't noticed was Colby's out-right stare at her. Even the angels in the room were completely dumbstruck by how stunning she looked in a dress so gorgeous. She knew how to pull off anything in Colby's eyes, yet that had to be one of his favourites ever.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs, Nathaniel bowed to her before walking to stand diagonally behind Sam and Katrina. Arianna, on the other hand, walked up to Colby and instantly took his hand in hers. He intertwined their fighters, tugging her into his side. Their friends sat in the crowd watching them as Arianna glanced at Sam. "Oh no, he looks like he's about to steal a child." She whispered. Since it was so unexpected, Colby let out a snicker and immediately turned his head mostly away from the crown to hide his amusement. Arianna just smiled to herself.

"We are gathered here today to crown the new queens of heaven and hell, and pass on the title of God to my son, Sam. A lot will be different for the angels under his rule, but I believe that he will succeed as long as he keeps his girl by his side and uses both his life experience and his friend to guide him along the way." Typical, the demons thought, that God had stood there and complimented only his son on the title of king even though the devil had been a king for centuries... but then God opened his mouth. "And I'm sure there will be plenty of changes in hell, also. It's been a long time coming, Colby, but now that you've found your queen, I'm sure hell will thrive." It was good enough for the demons to at least be recognised.

The ceremony really begun when the devil and the future God moved in front of their queens turning their backs on the crowds. They knelt down on one knee, at the same time leaning their heads forward and moving their fist behind their backs. The act showed their respect to their queens and told everybody that they would surrender to them.

Katrina was first to pick up Sam's crown from the cushion sitting atop a small table. She held it nervously in her hands; her entire body shaking. As she lowered it closer and closer to Sam's head, she felt herself getting more nervous than before. She'd have to wear a crown soon. Forever.
