“Whatever.” I shrugged him off.

“You know your sibling fights are really amusing.” Jared flung his arm around a tinny tiny girl with really fake hair. Yes, I know her hair is fake. In the freshman years she used to have this short platinum blonde hair that makes her look like a the witch from the Wizard of Oz book but she dyed her hair and added some extensions in the early days of being a junior.

“No need to compliment on our awesomeness.” Asher winked at an eye rolling Jared.

“Say whatever you want. Your ego is to big for me.” Jared ushered his girl out of the crowded class. Typical teenage guys. I snorted.

“So… I guess after summer we’ll be going separate ways.” My brother rubbed his neck. I know this is a touchy subject for him. He is always the bigger brother. Always the one with more power but sometimes his intentions are really caring. Sometimes. I know he doesn’t want to leave me being all twins he’s like the half of me. I’ve always shared everything with him. We shouted we argued and that’s when mom took the hint that we don't want to share but until now we do still share a car and an ancient scrawny looking laptop.

“I guess so.” I can feel the awkwardness around the air until Asher pulled me into a tight hug.

“We still have summer, Ally.” He whispered into my hair. Ally, they call me Ally because if someone screamed Ash in the halls it would be confusing because me and my brother’s name starts with the word so my brother being the older one by three minutes took the name and they left me with Ally.

“Yeah.” I whispered back.

Three of Asher’s friends took the passenger seats while I took shotgun and Asher as the driver. There’s a high school party held later today so they decided to stay and play video games and then head down a couple of blocks away to pick up their girls. Again, typical teenage guys. Me as the invisible nerd I covered myself with my warm gray hoodie and snuggled under my blanket with a book opened widely. I hate parties, hate alcohol and teenagers with no conscience. They say they have to live their lives to the fullest but what they’re doing is wasting time with no brains and get drunk.

Chatters started to fill my room. There’s just a very thin wall separating my room from Asher’s so I can hear every word if I tried to eavesdrop and right now I’m really trying.

“I can’t go guys.” My brother said

“Come on dude.” Jared said in a pleading tone

“My mom and dad doesn't want me to and if I go right now with you guys they’re not gonna give me my pocket money when I go to collage.”

“Your ego goes way over the rainbow dear friend.” Jackson said

“Yeah sure, you guys need to go now and tell the girl I’m going with that I can’t.”

The girl I’m going with. Yep, my brother is a total asshole. I cracked a little peeping hole on my door to see Jackson, Jared and Miller run down the stairs. Dad doesn't want Asher to go? And Asher actually obeys? This is possibly the oddest thing that has ever occurred in my life.

My eyes hurt from reading too much. Now I can only see blurry things. Damn! I hate these side affects. My eyes lingered all over the room until it landed on my twin.

“Whatca doing here?” I asked while rubbing my eyes

“We should go down for dinner.” He smiled at me. What the heck happened to him. He didn’t grinned or smirked but he really smiled that boyish smile he used to use until sophomore year.

“Yeah.” I said instead of What happened to you Asher? Did a bee stung your face and made it numb so you won't feel the tiredness of smiling.

The table was really silent with the shining faces on my family members but from the smiles on them I know that they’re smiling for different reasons. Mom was smiling like a squirrel, Dad smiled like the sun and Asher smiled cooly in his chair. I wasn’t smiling at all.

“You guys need to stop creeping me out or I’ll just eat upstairs.”

“Come on sis, Why can’t we all just smile together like a family.” My brother chirped.

Well for all I know this family don’t smile like maniacs.” I said smoothly while mom shot me a look and I smiled back. I gave them a sure and what’s up nod.

“I got accepted in that school a state from yours. You know the school where football is everything.”  He wiggled his eyebrows forcing my mouth to quirk up.

“And we’re going to California for the summer!” My mother shouted

“Your father and I are going on a business meeting and we’ll stay at the new summer house your father just bought for us.”

Summer house. Business meeting. California. Summer. My jaw dropped. Mom’s smiling because of the new house and dad’s smiling because of the business meeting with his new filthy rich client. I’m frowning because we’re going to leave for the summer. Asher stayed silent. Are we really going to California?
