Chapter Twenty Five

I nodded. "I can do that."

"So what's your plan?" he asked. "I'll do whatever it takes."

"How are you on acting?"

Dan sighed. "Dude, just tell me what you're planning. Stop with the sideways questions and just tell me."

Dan's arrogance was enough to cause me to want to hit him in that fucking head of his. It was obvious that he still cared for Kendall, and I was thankful that he was willing to help, but he had to come down a notch or two.

"Can you calm the fuck down? I'm not someone to impress and I'm sure as hell not intimidated, either. So let the chest-puffing stop already."

I took the chance that he was going to leave again, but if this was going to work, he was going to have to stop trying to act like he was a deity.

He didn't offer to move or talk, so I took that as a silent agreement.

"I want to catch Molly in the lie."

He nodded. "How?"

"Maybe if one of us can hide in a closet or something, the other can get her to talk about what she did."

"Isn't that illegal? Would it hold any weight with the school board?"

I nodded. "I know the board would change their mind if they physically heard that she lied on a recording. This isn't a legal matter yet, so I'm thinking that if she knows she got caught, she'll confess to the lie before it goes any further."

I knew is was a tricky plan that she could see right through, but I had to do something. Sitting around and waiting wasn't an option.

"I'm in," he said. "Where do you wanna do this?"

"I've been replaced for today in my classroom, but I'm free to return to the class tomorrow, since Molly's statement didn't say I was involved." Dan nodded and I continued. "At first, I was planned to tell them that I wasn't going to return until Kendall was allowed to return, but then I thought this was a better idea."

"And you think she'll be naïve enough to fall for this?" Dan asked and I shrugged.

"Honestly, I have no idea, but I can't sit on my fucking hands and do nothing. I have to try."

"Like I said, I'm in. But she has to know that I told the board of her plan and she knows that you like Kendall, so how are we going to do get her to confess to lying? I can't do the recording, though. I've got a career that I can't fuck up."

I nodded, not caring what the hell happened to me. "I'll record, but do you think you'll be able to get her to talk about it and say something that proves she lied?"

He smirked. "I'm good at the charm, so I can get her to say something. When are we doing this? I have practice almost every day, but I'll miss one for her."

Dan's cockiness was over the top, but I knew I needed his help, so I held my tongue. "I'll be back in the school tomorrow. I can get you in the building." He was nodding. "She has a storage closest in her room, so I can stay in there, but you'll have to get her out of her room for a minute, so I can get in it."

"Not a problem."

I hoped to hell he was right about that. Kendall's entire future was reliant on this working.

As we'd discussed, he was waiting for me in the parking lot just after the last class of the day. And what a fucking day it was. The whispers throughout the school were becoming unbearable, but hopefully, this would all be over soon.
