Mullai gives Parvathy her Thailam and is about to leave the room when Murugan calls out to her:
"Ammadi Mulla"
Mullai: Enna pa?
Murugan: Ippudi satham kekkudhu nu thappa nenachukaadha ma. Suvarellam andha maadhiri. Namma veetukku seekiram poidalaam ma.
Although frustrated with the poor acoustics and absolute lack of privacy, Mullai could never burden her father.
"Onnum prechana illa pa. Adhaan maapillaikku paai vaangiyaachula? Inime saapudaama paduthaalum nimadhiya thoonguvaaha."
Still amused by Mullai's jealousy, Kathir is waiting patiently for her to return when he hears this jab at his expense. Well aware that she had meant for him to hear this, Kathir sits up grumbling. Murugan rebukes Mullai in the other room.
"Ammadi, avare ippa thaan rest edukkuraaru. Nalla thoongattum vidu ma."
Kathir cracks a smile at his Mama's support. Such a loving, predictable man. He waits for Mullai to damage him further and isn't disappointed.
"Aama, avuha thookatha naan dhaan kedukkuren. Ponga pa. Thottil la pottu thalaatu thaan paadala. Mathapadi ellam paathu paathu panniyaachu."
Murugan: (laughs out loud) Nalla ponnu ma nee. Pechellaam nalla pesu. Unna pathi enakku theriyaadha? Kathir maapilla mudiya pudichu izhuthu thoonga vidama paduthunadhellam kannukkulaye nikkudhu.
Mullai: (thoroughly confused) Enna pa solreeha? Naa eppa avuha mudiya izhuthen?
Murugan: Nesamaave nyabagam illaya? Idhellam chinna vayasula nadandhadhu. Seri vidu, maapilla anga kaathuttu irukkaporaaru. Nee po ma.
Lost in thought, Mullai enters her room to see Kathir sitting with a smile on his face. She sits on the mat with her back against the cot and looks at him curiously. Kathir answers before she has a chance to ask:
(In a soft voice) "Hmm, kettuchu."
Mullai: Kettadhu sari, purinjucha? Enakku edha solraangane puriyala.
