Eleven | Synchronization pendant

"But... if I am the girl born on the day of the lunar eclipse, then who is the person born when the solar eclipse happened?" I wanted to know.

Sicheng was the next one to speak.

"He had many names." He said absently. "I mean, he still does. It's just that I haven't seen him in a while. His real name is Donghyuck, but you might also recognize his nickname. Just like yours is Thunderstorm, his is Haechan, which means full sun."

Donghyuck. Haechan. Full sun.

When I closed my eyes, I was actually surprised by the fact that, unlike the complete block of memories I had just moments before, I was actually able to see someone's face. That face belonged to a boy who seemed just a bit younger than me, his skin having a nice honey-like color and his light-brown hair messily getting into his eyes. I did know him. But I have no idea what happened to him after I left the N-plane.

"I remember him." I said, which positively surprised the guys around me. "But I don't really remember what our role in this operation was."

"You were basically the power sources for this whole operation, they would attach some of their devices to you, and just like a battery charger, they were constantly taking the so called 'power' from you and Donghyuck in order to protect the five of us from being damaged by the influence of the Irregulars. And it really worked – we were left untouched, and this draining of power didn't damage the two of you either because the scientists made a special amulet that would protect you. It had two identical parts – one for you, and one for Donghyuck. And it was called the synchronization pendant."

After he said that, I remembered the necklace with the green gemstone I had around my neck in the flashback. That must've been the same amulet.

"But... I remember wearing both parts of the pendant in the flashback." I said, confused by that fact. "If those necklaces were what was keeping us safe, then... what happened to Haechan?"

Ten's expression suddenly got way gloomier.

"Not much time passed before the scientists realised that even your power wasn't enough to protect us from the Irregulars." He said. "The five of us started becoming numb to our surroundings as if we were losing our soul and the touch with reality in general. Since Donghyuck and you obviously figured it out as well, you wanted to do something to save us. However, the scientists already saw that coming, so they sepaeated him from you, making him undergo even more dangerous experiments with other guys, including Sicheng. But, that didn't stop Donghyuck to give you his part of the necklace in order to try and save us."

"So... he basically risked his safety for all of us." I said quietly.

"Yes..." Ten said with some sort of darkness and sadness mixed in his voice. "Having both parts of the pendant, you sneaked into our laboratory in order to save us, but the guards caught you. That was also when they threw you into the portal along with one part of the necklace."

Ten looked straight into my eyes. How could I ever think that he was a stranger when I saw him again for the first time in front of my prison cell?

"That was also the last time I saw you." He continued. "Until yesterday, at least. For all these years, I wasn't able to realise why they got rid of both you and the pendant, when they needed both if they ever wanted to fix the two-planes issue. But then I realised – they never wanted to fix it."

A/N: I'm sorry that this chapter is so short, but it was actually connected to the next one and since it was getting way to long, I decided to separate it into two chapters. Anyways, I just wanted to clarify that I know neither Haechan's actual birthday nor Leiyu's imaginary one were actually the dates of solar or lunar eclipses (and even if they were I wouldn't know because I wasn't really born back then nor did I do the research). So long story short, I just made that up for the sake of the storyline. And also, speaking of storyline, I hope it's not too complicated, but if something is not clear you can always ask me! :)
