“Look at that. Not many people and beautiful waves while the sun is out.” Lexa said with a content sigh. She closed her eyes to enjoy the feeling of the sun burning on her skin while she could hear the waves crashing in. Clarke observed her with a smile on her face and it was like Lexa felt the blue eyes on her because she opened her eyes and looked at her. “What?” Lexa asked with a smile. She had no specific reason to smile but seeing Clarke smile just made it happen naturally. “It’s just nice to finally have someone to spend time with who actually loves the beach and surfing as much as me.” Clarke said and it made Lexa’s smile even wider. “I like that too.” She said and they both set their stuff down on the sand. “Who did you go with before? I mean I’ve seen the Instagram picture of you on your car with the surfboard.” Clarke asked while spreading her towel on the sand. “Anya mostly. Lincoln too. Just my family actually.”
“Didn’t you have friends to go surfing with on your old high school?” Clarke asked and Lexa sat down on her own towel while letting her fingers go through the sand. “Not really no. My dad didn’t really allow me to have friends.” Lexa confessed and Clarke looked confused at the brunette. She decided to sit down on the towel too. “Why not?” Clarke asked once she was settled down. “Because he thought I would only get really good grades and maybe a scholarship if I spend my time on studying instead on love and friends. To be successful is to be alone. Weakness.”
“What is?” Clarke asked and Lexa didn’t answer immediately. It was hard for her to admit it because she had never loved someone before or not in that way of course. She loved her family but she had never been in love. And her father had made it look very scary and bad. Clarke had changed her vision of it. For the first time in her life she wanted to give up something for love. She wanted to allow herself to be loved although that was hard for her. “Love?” Clarke finished it for Lexa because it seemed like the brunette wasn’t going to. Lexa only nodded. “So you never cared? About anyone?” Clarke asked in shock and Lexa quickly shook her head. “No of course I care. I’ve just never had someone to care about other than my family.”
“I could never do that.” Clarke said while her eyes went back to the water instead, imagining a life without friends and only her family. Her friends were the ones she could tell everything to. The ones that supported her first when she started to discover her sexuality. A life without them was just unimaginable yet Lexa had that. “So you’ve never had a lover or been in love?” Clarke asked and Lexa didn’t know what to say directly. She didn’t want to lie but she couldn’t tell she was crushing on her either. “All that time there I haven’t been no.” Lexa said. “Didn’t people try to be your friend?” Clarke asked and Lexa was relieved she changed the subject of her being in love.  “Of course they did but once my dad would find out I’m texting with someone, he would just become super mad so I kinda became scared of being friends with anyone.”
“Is that why you moved high school?”
“Partly yeah. My dad has been more busy since my mom died. He’s a businessman so he’s gone a lot. Ever since my mom died he became more successful because he focused more on work than on life. I guess that’s where the ‘to be successful is to be alone’ thing came from. But he was barely home so my aunt convinced him to move to Anya’s high school so I can have some company.” Lexa explained and Clarke shoulder bumped Lexa with a smile. “And how is that working out?” She asked while her eyebrows danced on her forehead. “Very good. I’m happy to finally have some friends.” Lexa said with a smile and Clarke laid her head on Lexa’s shoulder. “And I’m happy to have you as a friend too.” She said and Lexa couldn’t stop the feeling of something stirring up her stomach. “Let’s go for a swim.” Clarke said and she got up. Lexa was grateful of that  because she needed to get out of her clothes. She was getting too hot. Not only by the sun but Clarke made her sweat too when she makes her nervous by close touches. Her mouth had become as dry as the sand and she reached for her bag to get some water. She almost choked on it when she saw how Clarke pulled her shorts down her leg and pulled her shirt over her head and now stood in bikini in front of her.

“I’m sorry but I’m really hot so I’m going into the water real fast

“I’m sorry but I’m really hot so I’m going into the water real fast.” Clarke said while she ran to the water with her surfboard tucked between her arm and body. “Hell yes you are.” Lexa said under her breath while she got up from the towel and pulled her own clothes off now too. Clarke had just come to the surface again after diving in and saw Lexa running towards her and she had to force herself to close her mouth while the brunette came closer and closer. It was no secret she was bisexual and looking at Lexa’s body, she knew exactly why she was again. She had to dive in the water again to cool a bit off before Lexa joined her. “Don’t you dare steal my wave.” Lexa said with a grin while she paddled through the water. “I guess you’ll have to be first then.” Clarke said while she paddled behind her.
